- Bob Dylan, the legendary poet,song writer, singer, guitar player,and musical genius, was born in Duluth in 1941.
- At one point in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, the City of Duluth was home to more millionaires per capita than any other city in the world.
- With the advent of the Saint Lawrence Seaway in 1959, Duluth quickly became the largest inland freshwater port in North America.
- Duluth is home to America's only all-freshwater aquarium, the Great Lakes Aquarium.
- The annual John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon which starts in Duluth is 411 miles long. It commemorates the winter mail runs of its namesake, who delivered mail between Two Harbors and Grand Marais in the late 1800s.
