“your next great destination”
Let your next great escape be to Sherling Lake, only four miles from I-65 in Greenville. Walk our nature trails. Pitch a tent or park an RV. Catch a bass in our two lakes. Or play golf just round the corner at Cambrian Ridge, part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Sherling Lake, a place for you to get away from it all. It’s absolutely beautiful. While we’re only two hours north of the white sand of the beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, the terrain that surrounds Sherling Lake will remind you of the mountains. Longtime Park Manager Phillip Herring says, “We’re basically a family campground, a woodsy place with two lakes. It’s very clean and inviting, safe and quiet.” The Park is operated by the City of Greenville and is less than four miles from I-65 in South Central Alabama. It’s one of Alabama’s most beautiful campgrounds and is immaculately kept. All of the seasonal splendor that you can imagine in the heart of Alabama, is on display at Sherling Lake, including all the spectacular Fall colors, beautiful dogwoods, magnolias and azaleas.

Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on March 03, 2020We needed an easy on/easy off place to camp as we traveled south through Alabama on I-65 and Sherling Lake City Park was the perfect place. We camped here in a 35 foot fifth wheel in March, 2015. The rate shown is the Good Sam rate. They only take cash or checks.
Check in was easy and the camp host was very helpful. He guided us to site number 1, a large pull through with paved pad, full hookups, a small deck with picnic table, a fire ring, and a strong WiFi signal. We had a nice view of the woods from our site and could see the lake through the trees. We did not use the bath house so I can't comment on them.
Our favorite part of the stay was the walking trail beside the lake. Spanish Moss draped trees lined the lake banks and we even saw a few fish jumping.
The park is far enough away from the interstate to be very quiet. There is a Walmart, several restaurants, and gas stations at the interstate exit.

I stayed one night on my way further south and unfortunately the weather was not good. The temps were in the mid to lower 20s. I found it was too cold to take a shower in the bathhouse. Given this is unusual weather I can't hold it against them too much but still for $30 I would have liked a properly heated bathroom (there was a heater but I could still see my breath!). My site was a cement pad and level. The grounds are nice - there is a lovely lake and a trail I did not take due to the freezing temps. The camp wifi was okay. My Verizon phone got a decent signal. Office staff very pleasant. The fee had to be cash (maybe check).

We were headed south to Jazz Fest sans Airstream and decided to stop here for the night. It was perfect for us. Clean bathrooms and ultra friendly staff. Most of the sites are full hook ups and a lot of them are pull through to. It’s worth the stop and only a couple of miles off the highway.

We stopped here for a night traveling up I65 in early March 2020 and it provided the perfect place to rest. There's a nice walking path to stretch your legs that goes along a lake and golf course. There's a nice mix of pull-throughs, back-ins, FHU, and water/electric sites here. We arrived after the office closed and there was a sign that explained to pick a site and pay in the morning (cash or check). The host was very friendly as well. I would definitely stay here again!

This was a quick overnight stop. We got there around 8:00 pm. Make sure to make a reservation before the office closes. They will return your call. I explained our situation so they gave us a pull in site. The campground is very quiet and clean. Site was pretty level. Very convenient off the interstate. We would stay there again.

January overnight stay, while still winterized, so we needed to use the bathhouse. Wall heater not working, soap dispenser broken and empty, hand dryer not working, no paper towels or hand sanitizer. A shower would have been intolerable since there was no heat.
