We were in pull-through site 37 along the river (bank is 10 feet above water at that spot) for our first weekend stay followed by pull-through site 49 next to shower house for the next weekend (an en route stop to/from Gulf Shores AL). Shower house is clean and features private shower rooms with locking doors opening to the outside. Roads are paved and our grandkids enjoyed using their scooters. Other young campers ran around on battery-powered carts (may or may not be allowed, but it seems to be a safe, friendly place and no one stopped the kids).

For an overnight senior rate of $9 I just had to check this campground out, at least for future consideration. Montgomery has the new Civil Rights Museum and my wife and I want to tour it. Gunter Hill Campground would meet our needs enough to do so, but only for a stay of two nights max. With AT&T internet 4G service a disappointing one bar checking our email and doing online research was put on hold. Remarkably, our amazon stick worked and we were able to watch a bit of the evening news with our dirctvnow app. There was a laundry room, but no machines. The bath house was dated, but clean. The showers were plenty hot. There are no trails in which to ride bikes and unless you are a boat person there is nothing to do but read and write and watch the water (which isn’t a bad thing).

Can't say for the other side, but I didn't see a bad spot here. Will definitely stay again when in the neighborhood.

We liked this place as convenient to Montgomery. Everything is paved and well kept. Our AT&T hotspot and our Verizon cellphones all worked well enough at all times with Netflix streaming. Very beautiful scenery of the water surrounding us.

The campsite we stayed at was very clean and all others appeared to be the same way. The spanish moss adorning the trees makes for a lovely and dreamy campground. We took a short little walk down the boardwalk in the morning where we saw a beautiful sunrise and nice view across the water. The staff at the guardhouse was very kind. Access to the camp was pretty easy. The only downside we witnessed was a stinky smell in the air.

Stayed in Catoma loop, site was an incredible 175 feet deep and 50 feet from the water. Clean facilities, zero complaints. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this campground. Hard to actually find a “bad” site in this whole loop. Price paid reflects geezer pass discount.

We stayed in Antioch Loop, Site 100, within feet of the water. These sites are gravel. Our site was level and long. We had plenty of room for the 36' RV and our toad. The site and campground was very clean!
Arriving to Gunter Hill, we waited in line at the Entrance Office. You couldn't go ahead and park your rig to the side, we were waiting in a line.
The staff were friendly and getting to the site was easy. Antioch Loop was about 1/4 full so plenty of camping sites available. The roads once into the Loop were rough and bumpy. We took it slow and easy. In one area, the road had washed away and was recently cemented over. It looks like they plan to pave these sites, just as Catoma Loop sites are all paved. We noticed a few paved already.
There are plenty of paths to walk and the boat ramp is close by if you want to explore the water. At night, there were no lights in the campground, only around the bath house area. Overall, we enjoyed this campground very much!

Very clean with nice level gravel pads. Sites have tables, fire pits and grills. Only thing noticed bad was race track nearby which is active weekends and is pretty load on east side of camp ground. Good part of this is easy walk to track and Friday night the racing was finished by 8:00 or so. Probably the place to stay in the Montgomery area.

Giant pull through sites and giant back ins. Even a rookie can back it in here. Staff was friendly. At 26 bucks a night for full hook up pull through you can’t beat it.

This Army Corp of Engineer park was close to Montgomery and Plattville. There are two loops (Antioch and Catoma) and Catoma loop is better as it is renovated with concrete pads and sewer (sites 1-75). We stayed in Antioch and wouldn't stay in that loop again.
PROs
* staff friendly enough and do see them around;
* can bike or walk the loops for exercise;
* our site 116 was in tall pines and trees which helped with shade since the day temperatures were in the high 90s;
* if you like dark, Antioch loop has no lights except at the shower house;
CONs
* the roads within the loop are very poor, pot holes and narrow but we went slow and easy with our 40' class A and did fine;
* sites are gravel, very few of them are level and we noted some of them were washed out;
* showers are in poor condition but are clean and have hot water;
* laundry facility was okay, 2 washers and 1 dryer that worked and the best is how cost effective, $1 per wash and $1 per dry / load;
* smelly in the area, almost border lined 'sewage' smelling. No dumps at the sites so would assume it was coming from the River;
* very buggy this time of year.
