Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on August 16, 2022Deerlick Creek Campground is a beautiful Corps of Engineers park located on Holt Lake on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway in the rolling hills northeast of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The rate shown is with the Senior Pass. We camped here in a 35 foot fifth wheel.
Our site was a paved back in with water and electric. Behind our RV were a few steps up to a patio area with fire ring and picnic table. With trees all around we felt like the only campers there. Our two nights there were quiet and peaceful.
All of the sites are large and some have water views. We made reservations at the last minute and got the only site available big enough for our rig.
The only negative about our stay was getting in and out of our site with our fifth wheel. Site 28 was on a hill in the RBLU loop. I would recommend staying in another site or in one of the other loops if you are in a big rig.

Wanderingdawgs gave a great description of the place. This is a beautiful campground with nice level sites and great facilities. The rate we paid was the Sr. rate. Would definitely stay here again

I will second the review by WanderingDawgs and say this CG is beautiful. Not only is every site meticulously designed and beautifully maintained but you truly feel as if you are the only campers. Our site was on a bluff overlooking the lake in the LRID (Laurel something-it's at the end on the upper level) but there are sites down the hill which are closer to the lake and just as private. Our 33' class A had no trouble backing in but there are several pull throughs for larger rigs. Electric and water at the site with dump on the way out.
There are several walking/biking trails throughout the park.
The bathrooms are clean and showers good with adequate pressure.
The thing is you are only 7 miles (10 minutes) from town-a little longer if you go to midtown Tuscaloosa.
There is some noise at night from the dam but it's more like white noise than disturbing and during the day there may be helicopters over the dam.
We liked this CG so much we are rerouting our travels to come back through it on our way to FL this fall.

We have stayed here several times in the past. We also like to fish but gate to campground does not open to allow you to get to boat landing until 7 am.also gate locks down at 10 pm so if you need to leave before 7 am your vehicle has to be left outside the gate. This is asking for vandalism. This campground is in a remote area so apparently emergencies ate not supposed to happen. How would we get ambulance in after hours. I don't understand locked gates to start with and this is ridiculous..

Not anyone's fault but want to give others the heads up so you can plan accordingly

Great rate with National Park Access Pass. Quiet campground with nice walking trails, docks for fishing, clean bath house (excellent water pressure & super hot water), a basketball court, cell service for T mobile. We stayed for our first ever RV experience in our new camper. It was extremely quiet even thought there were a lot of people. The camp host was very nice and came over to offer encouragement, advice and help in getting out of a tight fit. We have a 41 ft fifth wheel and some of the spots that seem like they would be OK online are very tight. We took spot 5, a 115' pull through, and would not pick that one again as the curve was too extreme - we did fit after quite a bit of maneuvering to fit slides and utility hookups but it took a while. There is also an entire section that is only for very small trailers so you might want to call first if you are on the larger size. Water and electric only.

Beautiful views of the lake from most sites. All sites have a wonderful picnic area & many have a deck. The road from town is very winding, and unfortunately very littered, so go slow. When you get to the campground, everythig is vdery clean & neat. We watched the ranger cleaning sites after people pull out The sites are tight and small. With many in the River Bluff loop you may find your tow/toad is in the street. Also understand that you may need to head in the opposite direction & turn around when you leave.

We arrived after dark on a Friday night and had no trouble finding our site. The campsite was spacious and almost at the end of a cul-de-sac so it was very quiet. We really enjoyed views of the water and the very clean multi level site perched on the bluff. Sites 36-40 are situated after a sharp hairpin turn and seemed to be a tighter fit for larger rigs. We have a 15’ trailer so we had no issues. I would definitely camp here again!
