“Kampgrounds of America”
The Capital City KOA is the largest and top-rated campground in the Topeka area. All RV sites are full service with Free Cable TV and Wi-Fi internet access. We have just added a new Salt Water Pool and completed our first few Deluxe Patio Sites. We also have redone many of our Tent sites, which now have electricity and a site light. Our main building is a turn-of-the-century Barn, which houses our General Store, Room, Exercise room, and Group Facilities.Other amenities include 3 fishing ponds, a playground, a hiking trail, horseshoes, an exercise room, KampK9 for the family dog, and lots of wide open space. No RV? No problem! We have large open tent sites and three types of rental units. Our Cabin sleeps 4 and our bunkhouse sleeps 6. Both units have a refrigerator, outside cooking area, picnic table, and cable TV. Our Deluxe Cabin sleeps 4 and has all the amenities of our other cabins plus a full bath, mini kitchen, outside grill, and campfire ring (an excellent choice for the non-roughing it types). Our KOA is located near all the area attractions: State Capitol, Museums, Race Tracks, Shopping, Nightlife, Art Galleries, University of Kansas, Washburn University, and many more. So, if you're looking for a family-friendly camping experience, come stay with us at Capital City KOA!

The staff was very friendly. The office hours were a bit odd, but the staff made up for it in other ways.

They initially had us in space 64 but we were unable to get level. Thankfully they gave us a few options to choose from and we moved to 14. We were able to get level quickly, room for our truck, not as close to the road so it was really quiet and Verizon worked well enough to stream Netflix and work without issues.

Stayed overnight one night here on our way to St. Louis. We very much enjoyed our stay here. They have an awesome game room with pool table, foosball, etc, as well as a pool. Some places have all of this stuff locked down or only accessible during certain hours or for a fee, it was nice that this was not the case here. Sites are a little bit close together but I didn't feel like we were completely on top of our neighbors. Staff was very friendly. Campground and check-in was very organized. Conveniently located off of the Interstate. Would definitely stay here again.

Average size spaces. Not huge but fine. Many seasonal spots filled. Lots of green space and 3 small fishing ponds. Didn’t use the bath house facilities. Small store but it wasn’t stocked very well. Only negatives was a little noise from the highly and we heard one train. But after what we heard the last few nights at other locations it wasn’t bad at all. We would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for one night on our way south through Kansas. The campground is south of Topeka but the drive into the city is short and simple. The road leading to the campground entrance road (SW 49th Street) is a washboard-esque gravel road on the western end (between Burlingame Road and the campground entrance), so either approach the campground from the east or plan accordingly. The campground is adjacent to US-75, so there is some road noise.
The campground had mostly pull-through sites but had back-in sites on the northern, eastern and western edges. All sites seemed to have a clear view of the sky, with some shade trees behind the eastern and western edge sites. Deluxe patio sites seemed to have concrete pads; all of the rest of the pads were gravel. We were in site 59, in the easternmost pull-through row, where the sites alternated directions and were pretty close together. The hookups at our site were reasonably located, and we had a picnic table and fire pit. The last site in our row (65) was a deluxe patio site that also seemed to have a private dog run, though it wasn't marked as such on the campground map.
The campground has the usual KOA amenities. There is a store attached to the office, but it's on the small side. There are bathrooms and laundry facilities in both the office building and a small bathhouse in the southwest corner of the campground. The swimming pool is labeled on the campground map as a saltwater pool: there are yard games such as horseshoes and cornhole next to the pool, while a large playground for kids is located just across the street.
The small enclosed dog park is located along the entrance road on the north side of the park, away from the campsites. We didn't use it at night, but I thought I saw a light strip along the roof of the shelter within the fenced area, and the park had an airlock-style gate. There are other grassy areas to walk your dogs along the eastern and southern ends of the campground.
In terms of cell service, the one speed test I ran on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna showed 47 Mbps down and 23 up, and we had no trouble streaming video. The speed test I ran on my 5G AT&T smartphone showed 14Mbps down and 4 up. I forgot to test the WiFi before we left, so I can't speak to that.
We would stay here again for an overnight stay.

Nice for overnight stop. A little highway noise. Clean level site. Very friendly host.
• Great campground
• Level sites
• Good cable TV
• Decent internet
• Clean showers, okay pressure, and lots of hot water
• Only negative is, too close to highway
• Being on an end unit, every dog that walked by had to use our site as a washroom
Very clean. Friendly hosts. Easy freeway access.
The deluxe cabin was perfect! The pool was amazing! Love this place!
One night stop. Clean restrooms and showers, great hosts, beautiful campground!
