Crater Lake and the awe inspiring Cascade Mountains make this a memorable stop when touring Oregon. Majestic trees tower above campsites and wildlife abounds. The showers at 75¢ for 4 minutes of hot water seemed a bit stingy given that the campsite was $22/night on top of the $25/ day state park fee, especially since the showers were in poor condition. However, the beauty more than made up for it. We’d return there in a heartbeat.
The only gas for miles (if pricy), a cozy diner, a 4-room motel, and warm, chatty staff and patrons made this oasis in the middle of nowhere else a welcome break from the road. Try their milk shakes!
KOA does it again! This campground in the heart of Salt Lake City creates an illusion of isolation be a high, greenery covered wall surrounding the compound. Amenities abound and the only drawback we experienced was that the gas fire pits where we’d planned to roast marshmallows was non-functional. Friendly staff, 24hr security, and multiple fast food joints nearby make this a wonderful place to create a home base from which to explore SLC.
