The area around the campground is a multi use area that has mountain bike and OHV trails. And it appears there is some undeveloped boondocking unmarked campsites around the campground perimeter and further up some of the back country roads. Here for the first week in April and the 14 sites was mostly vacant during the week and roughly 1/4 full on weekends.

There’s at least 4 pull through sites. Two group campsites with picnic tables and shelter. The campsites have a fire ring and grill on a swivel. The entrance to the park has a shooting range and parking for additional recreational activities.

I give this campground a 3.5 (which is a solid good) as it checks off some of my needs. Proximity: 20 minutes to cedar city. Cheap: $5 a night. Vista: interesting local geography and great view of nearby mountains.

Note: Utah public lands has a lot of OHV traffic. Especially on the weekends. I respect that public lands must cater to all interested parties in order to get support from the largest majority possible. So don’t be shocked to come and hear a lot of OHVs.

Great location with amazing views of the Organ Mountains. Rocky bumpy road may be challenge for big rigs. Water available at entrance to Aguirre Spring Campground. Need 30’ hose.

Loved my spot just off the road before the dip into the canyon. The overlook of the desert below had Amazon sunsets. Minimal traffic but high winds in January-February had the trailer a rocking! The further away from the Hwy the less cell reception.

Perfect spot for being near Tucson. You’ll find every rig imaginable from big RV’s to the desperado crowd sleeping in cars or full timing it in a tent. Throw in some dirty kids, year round residents, the daily passing through and motorcross enthusiasts and everyone including some shady hombres are represented.

Well mannered roaming dogs taking themselves for a walk was a daily occasion. So was one of them visiting my portable fire pit every day and pissing on it. I told the son-a-bitch to quit but he wasn’t the listening kind. This may seem like a negative review but it ain’t. Despite the diversity of characters including a senior citizen couple that everyone suspected of siphoning gas from peoples vehicles at night, desperado paradise was mostly quite with a great sunset every night.

As per the desperado’s... there were a few... but even desperadoes don’t want to attract attention when they’re laying low. I’d definitely come back here next time I’m in Tucson... because for the price... it’s not worth complaining about.

Stayed here in January for a few days to escape the winter weather that had moved into northern New Mexico. Only 4 campsites and a vault toilet that the camp hot had kept very clean (or at least while I was there). There is an array of cell towers nearby that give amazing cell reception and data streaming. The campground is shared with an OHV use parking lot and is busy on the weekends but by dusk was quiet. There are fire pits, shelters, picnic tables and a garbage bin at each campsite. For $3 a night you can’t go wrong. Two sites are nestled directly on top of the arroyos with amazing views for miles across the southern plains.

No frills no fuss… easy in easy out. Great little town… so If you’re looking for something close to town on the cheap… this is your spot. Electric plug ins and occasional fire rings. No “potable” water and two vault toilets on either end of the camp. The RV park in town won’t sell water but the police station has a spigot next to a water bill sign. Check in with the dispatcher. It was free.

Amazing area. Camped at the second to last campsite before the KOFA sign and had good phone reception. Moderate traffic on this road... but great nearby hiking to the horse tanks. Good cell phone reception. The road in is a little bumpy but not bad. 25 miles to Quartzsite and 45 to Yuma.
