Nice relatively small RV park right off I-70, just east of Abilene. We called ahead and they were waiting for us. Hosts were super nice and led us to our site.

There is electric, water and sewer at all sites. Also a picnic table, small trees that were recently planted and a small grassy area. WiFi was good and I had great Verizon reception.

There is a laundry room with extra large washers and dryers that cost $2 to wash and $2 to dry but the dryers were super hot so I didn’t need the whole time allotted. There is an ironing board and iron in there if you need to touch things up and table for folding. There was a gathering room with two large tables and chairs to sit at and a large screen tv with satellite service to watch while your clothes are washing.

The bathroom/showers were the cleanest free bathrooms I have ever seen and they even provide a clean bath mat for each person to use!

There is the small town of Chapman just a few miles south of the RV park that has a gas
station and a small grocery store.

The only drawback is the noise from the highway but it seemed to quiet down during the night and we both slept well.

This RV Park is super easy to find, right off I-80 Exit 128. We got reservations by calling and the lady we talked to was very nice, answered all our questions. We got there after hours so we drove straight to our site and our paper work was there on the electric box. Site was level both ways, which was nice, and our trailer fit perfectly so that we had a nice pad to step out onto. Bathrooms and showers were closed due to COVID-19. There is a convenience store right across from the entrance to get in so easy walk to get ice. Several fast food restaurants down the road and a couple of sit down restaurants too. Only complaints...internet was down off and on during our stay and the noise from the interstate is quite loud at night but we were there for a family emergency so were dog tired at the end of the day and it didn’t bother us after the first night.

This was the second time we have stayed here. Easy access just blocks from I-70. There are 14 pull-thru sites with 30 amp at all sites, (50 amps at some) and water at all sites with an area at the far end for tents. The sites seem to go down in size with the first ones being the largest for bigger rigs/RV’s monsters. The “lake” is really just a large part of Big Creek that has been slowed by a spillway (?) There is a nice fishing pier and a boat launch for small boats and we saw people fishing but never saw any fish getting caught. There are free showers in the bathrooms with great water pressure and plenty of hot water and even though they are dated they were clean. (The water at the sites and bathrooms/showers will be turned off for the winter starting in November and the rates go down to $15 a night.) St Mary’s Catholic Church is across from the campgrounds and it was lovely hearing the bells chime. There was work going on across the street to expand the campgrounds by adding another 9 sites. The only downfall to this campground was the train tracks that were only a block away. It was fine when the train came through during the day...not so much when it passed through at 2am and they blew the whistle a dozen times! It didn’t happen every night though... Ellis is a sweet small town with several churches, a library, several restaurants including a Mexican food restaurant, a DQ and Godfathers Pizza. There is a train museum right around the corner from the campgrounds that unfortunately was not open the days we were there. And there is a small grocery story. We had fun going to a High School football game and cheered for the Railers! We would definitely stop again.

This is a very small, very quiet, off the beaten path campground with only 10 back-in sites on 2 loops, 2 vault bathrooms, picnic tables and fire-rings in each site. The road in is narrow in spots and paved for 2 of the 4 miles from the highway turn. There are no hookups and no water so make sure you bring your own. Also, there are no dumpsters so you need to pack to out. There were several ATV’ers there but the trails are away from the campground and they drove very slow when coming and going, so not a noise problem at all. The creek is right behind the sites and the water runs shallow but pretty fast which makes for a lovely sound. :-) We had no cell service at the campsite but as soon as you got back out on the highway 12 I got 5 bars on Verizon. All in all we would come back again. We paid $3.50 a night with our Senior National Parks pass.

This is a very nice campground with spacious sites, lots of trees and super quiet at night! We made reservations using ReserveAmerica. We picked the last pull through site at the end, with only tent sites beyond us and so we were mostly all alone during our 4 day stay. Well, all except for the raccoons that came nightly to get in the garbage bins but we had our AC on so only knew about them because the camp host would come down every morning and put a board in the bin so they could get out! 😜 Our site had a huge Sycamore tree that provided shade for our trailer for all but 2 hours, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The whole campgrounds is completely surrounded by trees and there was lots of shade for those in sites on the outsider edges. The bathrooms and showers were open. The showers are free but definitely old and in need of a good cleaning. There is water access throughout the CG and a dump site right next to the bathroom/shower house. For groceries..Hamburg only has a Casey convenient store so we drove to Nebraska City, which was about 9 miles away. They had a Walmart, a small grocery store, hardware store, several fast food places and a laundry mat. Sydney is about 6 miles away but had a small grocery store and that’s about it. I would go to Nebraska City. Over all we really liked this CG and would definitely come again!
