On a whim, I called this campground to see if they had any availability for the weekend I wanted. The person I talked to was very friendly and accommodating.

This is a very nice little campground. A few of the sites look like they might be a little difficult to get into. I know mine was. Although the sites aren't quite level they aren't too bad. I only needed two leveling pads to get my camper level. Looking around I saw some campers that needed 8 or 10 inches of levelers. I think this should be expected as the campsite is on a hill.

I only dealt with one staff member. She was quite helpful. She could have been a little more friendly. In her defense she was very busy as this was a theme weekend.

We will be staying in this campground again. This is probably my second favorite campground in the area.

Although the site was nice, rather level, and wide; the access to it was a little difficult. Rocks, Tree stumps, and steep approaches made getting my little camper into the site hard. I actually had to get a much more experienced friend to get the camper into the lot. Most of the sites looked much easier to park in. There are a few others that look just as difficult.

The staff were very friendly. When you arrive at the campground they have a staff member escort you to your site. The gentleman even attempted to help me get my camper parked. Unfortunately, he has a bad habit of standing directly in front of the vehicle when directing the driver forward. This made me very uncomfortable due to the possibility of sudden uncontrolled jumping forward.

This campground is only a couple miles from Maple Grove Raceway. We could hear some of the cars making laps on the track. It wasn't too bad since (I think) there was only one car at a time. If you're planning on camping here, I'd definitely suggest looking at the racetrack's schedule and avoid race weekends if you want a quiet trip.

Access: 2 stars due to the difficulty I had in getting my camper into the site. This site is not for someone new to towing like me.
Location: 3 stars due to the racetrack just a couple miles down the road (Race fans would give this campground a 5)
Cleanliness: 5 stars. Recently remodeled bathhouses
Site Quality: 4 (maybe 3) due to the difficulty in parking
Noise: on race weekends I'd have to give it a 1--- other weekends 3 or 4.

CAUTION! Avoid going through downtown Boyertown! The roads are very narrow and there’s not quite enough room for two big vehicles to pass.

The accessories to this site isn’t bad. It’s a good size lot too. Quite level. We didn’t need any leveling blocks and the camper is about as level as I’ve ever gotten it.

There are a lot of permanent campsites here. I doubt some of these “campers” have moved in years.

So far it’s rather quiet. Quite nice.

Didn’t have any problems finding the place or with checking in. I’m not sure but I think a public road runs through the campground. Most of the traffic on it appears to be campers coming and going. I can hear and see cars on the main road. And you can hear the traffic on rt81.

At a lot of the sites the grass needs to be mowed. I’ve noticed a couple other maintenance concerns. If the owners are planning to open the pool this year it needs a lot of attention very soon. I think I’ve only seen one worse pool in my life.

This site is one of the most level sites I’ve seen. It’s so level we didn’t bother using levelers.

Site 1 is absolutely huge. Looking around the place, most of the sites are not as big as ours. However, most of the sites look pretty adequate.

The campground has a lot of potential. Unfortunately management keeps forcing people away. They don’t consistently enforce rules and sometimes are very rude.

This time they charged extra for 2 kids. One is 5 the other is 4.

The friends we were camped with had a friend who lives in the area stop by. Within a couple minutes management was across the road from the campsite yelling about extra people staying overnight and they need to pay.

No cell service anywhere near this place! The owners say you can get a little bit of Verison service if you're lucky. We had to drive for miles to get any (AT&T) service. The Wifi is laughable too. It only works near the office/store.

There was two different construction projects going on near the campground the week we were there. (3 Oct through 8 Oct 2021) This made for a few days of rude wake-ups and was, probably, the worst part of camping here. We weren't bothered by it during the day since we didn't spend much time in camp after getting breakfast. But, the trucks and machinery did operate until 4:00pm most days. I think Thursday they operated until 4:30.

There's no sewer hookups in any of the sites. However, for a fee you can request a "honey wagon" to come out to your site to pump your tanks. Or, you can take your auxiliary tank to the dump station.... If you have one.

Enough with the negative!

The owners were super nice, friendly, accommodating, These were some of the best owners I've encountered so far.

If you want to get cut off from the world, this is the camp for you. As mentioned, there is no cell service anywhere near this place unless you're a Verison customer. Even then it's spotty according to the owners. The WiFi only works near the Office/Store/owners' house. The WiFi is slow at the best of times. But, if you really need it, it is there.

The bathhouse was one of the nicer I've seen at a campground. It looks like it was cleaned daily even though there were only a small handful of campers through the week. Showers were nice sized, with plenty of hot water. My wife tells me that the ladies' bath house had two showers with shower chairs in them.

We were lucky enough to be camped right beside the stream. It was nice being able to sit out at a campfire and listen to the creek gurgling away. Our small camper gave us the opportunity to set our camper parallel to the stream with our door facing the stream (at the suggestion of one of the owners).

This campground is less than 30 minutes away from Cherry Springs State Park. This park is one of the darkest places on the east coast. Fantastic stargazing! It's also close enough to Benezette, PA that you can easily day trip over to Elk Paradise. Other nearby attractions are: The PA Lumber Museum, Coudersport Ice Mine, Dozen or more state parks, Ruins of Austin Dam, Stevenson Dam overlook, fishing, hiking, and more.

Would I go back? yes!

This campground has had new owners since October 2021.

I don't know how to add a new campground to this site so I'm writing this review under the campground's old name. It's now called Campground Island.

The owners were extremely friendly, nice, helpful, energetic, and excited to be traveling on their new adventure. They only started re-constructing this campground in November of 2021. They have a lot to do. Most of the sites are still grass. The owners plan on creating gravel pads for all sites. There's a fair amount of muddy areas due to new construction and drainage issues which I'm sure the owners will address.

All the sites have a good amount of space between them. Our site was one of the most level sites I've ever parked on. It is a pull through buddy site. The owner said that he just dumped and spread the stone the morning we checked in. The softness of the stone showed it was very new. It could benefit from a nice heavy machine running over it a few times.

The bathhouse/showers were really nice and clean. The rec hall was nice. Once again, these are works-in-progress and the rough edges showed a little bit.

There is no store or office. Currently, the only way to book a night is online or call one of the owners. These are problems when there is no wi-fi and your phone service has only two bars and you have to go online to find the number.

This campground has great potential! My wife and I will be going back. The problems I listed above are growing pains. They can't fix everything in one day and overnight. It will be fun watching this campground grow and mature.

My wife and have camped here a couple times. We will be going back soon.
This is one of the nicer campgrounds I've been to. It's not the greatest, but it is nice. I don't think any gravel pad will be exactly level. These were close. Driving around I did see some pads that need work. But, every campground I've been to have had that issue.

As others have mentioned; walk across the road and you're on the battlefield.

One of the best things is this place is that it's right next to National Riding Stable which is a horse rescue. All the horses here have been rescued from abuse/neglect. National Riding Stable also offers a horseback tour of the battlefield. The horses for our tour were very well trained, gentle, and easy to ride even for the beginning rider. The guide was very knowledgeable of the battle and good at her job. The tour was a very enjoyable experience.

If you like camping with your horse, this is the PERFECT place. They offer covered stalls, single, double, triple, and quad horse corrals, round pen, and fenced arena. This place was built from the ground up with equestrians in mind.

The only real downside to this park is the "seasonal" campers. Some of them look like they haven't moved in several years. Some are a little run down. That does, slightly, detract from the atmosphere.

One other thing lacking at this site that I've seen at other places are "buddy sites". Where one camper pulls in one way and another pulls in the opposite way so you share a common area. So, even if you're camping side by side with friends, one of you is looking at the back of the other person's camper. ...........PS If you're using your GPS to navigate here and it tells you to exit onto Baltimore Pike, DON'T do it! Granite Schoolhouse Lane is very narrow. Take the Tanneytown Road (rt 134) exit instead.

They really paid attention to making the sites flat and level when they built this campground. Every site I’ve seen looks nice and level. There’s a nice bit of space between the sites. One down side is the “buddy sites” (side by side sites where the front doors face each other). One of the sites is a back in and the other is a pull in. There is very limited access in front of you when you pull into those buddy sites. It’s going to be interesting trying to hook up when we leave. UPDATE: It wasn't too bad. Mostly because of my really short trailer. It's only 20 feet.

The staff seemed to be friendly the few times I interacted with them

The restrooms look nice and clean.

They have a very nicely stocked store/ office/ snack bar.

The swimming pool is quite a distance away from everything else. Vehicles are not allowed to go to it. You have to walk a few hundred yards to get there. You’re going to have to decide for yourself whether this is good or not. The lack of access to the pool vs. all the pool noises being farther away.

I would give this place a four star, maybe even a five star, review on the noise if it were not for the guy who took his family home, left the camper with his radio playing loud enough that I could hear it while laying in my camper's bed.

Cell service was rather spotty. I was getting either 1 or 2 bars of 4g LTE service most of the weekend.

This was pretty nice for a KOA. There was decent space between sites and quite a few trees. I would not say the sites were shaded, but there were trees around some of the sites. The sites that I saw were fairly level and all were stone. Some of the sites had patios.

The staff that I encountered were friendly and nice.

The store was nicely stocked and had a few rather unique things.

The bathhouse looked clean.

Being a KOA you don't get to choose your site. You reserve a night and find out what site you get when you check in. They did accommodate us in giving us a site right beside friends we were camping with. I don't know if that would have been possible if the campground was more crowded. After checking in we had to wait a minute or two for someone to escort us to our site.

There was some noise from the nearby road, but it was hardly noticeable. Our friends said they could hear the highway occasionally.

I did have AT&T service of about 3 bars most of the time. I didn't really notice if it was 4G or 5G
