We came in a day early and lucked into space in the overflow area. We oriented the motorhome to get the best views of the cliffs and ocean. Fantastic.

After one night, we checked out our assigned campsite and decided that, absent the views, it did not hold a candle to the parking lot. We checked in but stayed in the overflow area for the additional two days. Victoria, being a photographer, spent hours taking pictures making a point to get down into the tidal pools where there was a lot of sea life.

Spent the night here while exploring the area in a 25' motorhome. This is a large relatively flat area in thick pines. The roads are dusty and narrow in some spots but it is possible to find fairly isolated areas for private camping. In the morning, we noticed a couple of off road vehicles driving nearby but otherwise peaceful. We were fairly close to the highway and had marginal cell service.

This is the third or fourth time staying at this State campground. I really like the open spaces and easy access to Pismo Beach and adjacent communities. There is a decent amount of space between the campsites.

It was hot during the stay but cooled down nicely at night. Many of spots do not have a lot of shade.

This park provides all the things needed to hook up and stay in the Pismo Beach area. The location is the main thing in our opinion.

However, the sites were very close together. In the warm days, we were entertained by the conversations in adjacent RVs. I did not like the fact that the sewer connections for an RV were in very close proximity to the picnic table area for a neighboring RV.

There seemed to be a lot of loud music and other noise but, to be fair, it was quieted down come bedtime.

We had a couple of days to fill as we toured various state campgrounds in the area and decided that Casini Ranch would be a good stop to relax and restock for the next destination.

The sites were close together and, partially due to it being Halloween weekend, it was a party atmosphere with lots of kids and noise. However, the greatest disruption was the site with four or five small dogs in a pen, which took turns leading a chorus.

To be fair, it is just the type of place we would look for when the kids were young.

We decided to cut our loses and after doing laundry and spending one night we took a chance on finding a spot in the overflow area at Salt Point Gerstle Cove CG.

Glad we did.

We use the Mission RV Park dump station, which is located in our home area, when returning from our trips.

It is a convenient and clean facility that might be a tight fit for larger rigs.

When we dumped sewage last week, we noted that their fee increased from $10 to $15

This RV park is literally in the shadow of Morro Rock. You can walk or ride your bike from the campground to the rock, adjacent public lands and most of community. The sites are flat and services are as advertised.

The downside is that the layout allows them to get just about as many tents, trailers and motorhomes in the campground as is possible. And, given the summer season, it was pretty full. I don't think that really bothered me since it was so easy to walk across the street to sand dunes and beach and it was an easy bike ride to shops, restaurants and, in my case, to a nearby Ace Hardware store for "motorhome" parts.

Love the Avila Beach area but could not get reservation at nearby Port of San Luis so took a site here.

There are a limited number of sites for motorhomes and trailers limited to 24’. They are all dry camping sites on dirt and in the midst of tent sites, cabins and car parking - all on dirt. In fact, as near as I could tell there is no paving on site. When busy, as it was for this trip, it gets pretty dusty.

For tent campers, the bathrooms are portapots.

They have a pool (open) and a hot spring (closed) but didn’t check them out.

The attraction for me is that it is very close to the trailhead of the Bob Jones Bike Trail provides an easy ride to Avila Beach and the harbor area.

As to the question about would I stay here again, I answered yes but would only if no other option.

We had no idea what to expect when we booked a night at this location but loved it. Some of sites were a bit close together but the location was fantastic, in and among Redwoods.

Victoria was able to hike several trails and I was able to take the ebike on a paved trail that runs for several miles along the adjacent creek.

We had no plans for the next night having initially planned to search out something new. However, this location was great. Even though our site was booked by someone else the following day, we were able to rent another.

PS, our motorhome is 25 feet long and there were several sites that could accommodate it. However, there are several that could not. If reserving a site make sure it is adequate for your equipment.

Stayed here because space was available and planned to ride the bike trails along coast. Disappointed that the bike trails are closed.

Site nice but on a slope. Easy enough to level the rig. Lots of kids and day users.

For beach access the site is great.
