Yes, I’ve even seen Big rigs here … and yes, big rigs are fine on hwy. 12. Numerous camping sites, especially down the first turn off on the right ( blm 201 ). Good cell service. Dump / water at local RV park. Water alone possibly available at local city park or service station. The wind can Blow, but there are trees to tuck in behind so your not quite as exposed. No stay limit posted. Grocery and fuel in Escalante. 5500’ elevation so can get hot in the summer but spring and fall are Wonderful !! Outstanding gravel access road until dispersed area then take it slower and find your spot.

Wonderful place with lots of room, lake front views and clear stary nights. This area is managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife dept. so you Will need a permit ( $12 annually ) and there are a number of other places to use your permit - like the Elephant Mountain wildlife area outside Big Bend NP. ( our next stop ) Mostly dirt if you’re off the pavement so may be muddy when wet, but we found plenty of paved room for our 33’ 5er with a covered table as well. Plenty of solar would probably be unbearably hot in the summer w/ no shade - but hey, just go jump in the lake to cool off !! Can also be Windy in WTexas but we Really enjoyed this location in March - close to town, good cell service and antenna tv — highly recommended.
I also stayed here to “break up a long drive” … from Yellowstone to [eventually] Moab. Took about 3 hr. from Jackson, WY. Nice little campground. One vault toilet (as mentioned previously) and a Water Spigot but water was turned off I guess. We had site 9 … sites 1-4 reservation only - sites 5-9 FCFS. $10 normally but it Pays to be a Senior !!! 🤣 Nothing here other than a small lake, and we’re not fishermen … no groceries, one fuel station, and one stop light if memory serves me - so we just stayed home and Chilled for 4 very pleasant days mid-September. We DID have cell service - T-mobile ‘roaming’ on “US-Union Telephone 3G” but must have been No one else on the tower because it worked Great … better than Many LTE !!! Speedtest 5.72 midday. All gravel sites and interior roads so mud not a problem, open for satellite and solar, good campground just nothing to do. One very cute cottontail bunny seemed to wonder Why we were here - otherwise he’d have the place to himself ?!?! 😂😂. Now headed to free dump and water in Evanston.

The front area is now the only accessible area after road washouts and time. The area marked “Desert Tromp” on Google maps no longer accessible to trailers or non-4wheel drive. But not a problem - the first area is easy access from highway and a good site for as long as you want. Open to wind and close enough for road noise from highway this is wide open desert camping.

Not really best for larger rigs although we made our 30’ 5th wheel work. Like most National Park campgrounds, best for tents, vans or small ( 20’ ) trailers. $28 night w/ no hookups but there is a dump station a couple miles down the road. No real things to see / do in Everglades unless you pay for a concessionaire boat trip, even the visitors center has been demolished after hurricane. Oh Well .... nice to be here anyway !!

This location is considered Site #3 of the boondock campsites along the Green River. This site has the best access for pulling a trailer - sites #1 & #2 have very steep grades and I’m not sure with the loose gravel if you could pull a big trailer back up the hill. We have a 14,000lb. 5th wheel and I would not try the first two sites unless I had 4wd !! It says 1 campsite here ( site #3 ) but you certainly could get more than one into the large area - but there’s only one picknick table. The official BLM Campground across the Hwy has dump station and water - Pinedale has grocery, fuel, propane (Ace Hardware) and laundry. 7500’ elevation gives cool-er weather even in July and Always cool nights. Gravel road from Hwy is Very washboard ( I never ventured past site #3 because of this ) but a wide, decent gravel rd. so just take it Slow with washboard !!
Enjoy your stay - I sure did !!!

This is a tent only campground.
All roads currently seem to be open getting here. Lots of potential for Off Roading but ‘camping’ maybe not so much. Many Arroyos with loose dirt and mud potential and no ‘areas’ that I found with past campsite experience. Just doing a ‘drive by’ but would not be My choice for camping areas with a 30’ 5th wheel.

Down toward the river is nice flat area. Obviously open for solar/satellite. Road was busier than one might expect with some noise. Not very ‘pretty’ and We only stayed one night with the 5th wheel then moved to the launch area by the dam. T-mobile has no service.

Great place to Boondock !! Wind really blows at times and it’s a long way to town. We left because cell data was Terrible on T-mobile. Reception was great with all 4 bars but a data speedtest returned 0.21 ??!?!?! Called t-mobile and they created ‘work order’ to look into it but no change while we were here. Just too many people on one tower I guess !?! We’ll return to Government Wash.
