We wanted a free spot right off the road for a quick over night stop. This was a great place to enjoy the sunset without needing to unhook because there were plenty of opportunities to find a level spot. If you keep driving past the old drive-in parking spaces, you can find more privacy or drive to the top of a hill like we did. There is a bit of road noise and it’s obvious that a lot of people have abused the land- lots of glass and tin can piles, but we were able to find a spot that we felt safe having the kids and dog playing. The only reason I wouldn’t camp here again is because there seem to be more interesting BLM spots just a bit further south.

Lucked out with road 572. It had everything we needed- large, level and elevated site, pine groves for shade, views of the plateaus, privacy, room for kids to explore, and cell service. We were a bit nervous camping off grid in Utah for the first time as it had just down poured, leaving the roads tacky and us wondering if more rain and landslides were coming. So we chose this spot because it was on top of a small hill. Only a mile further down the road there were more site options for unobstructed views of the plateaus and cliffs (but fewer trees). Only had one car drive by in the 48+ hours we were there. Best part- we had GREAT cell service for working remotely. No issues with video calls. The night sky and sunset was amazing. If you’re from the east coast like us, don’t forget you’re in the desert so you may see tarantulas. Also if you’re unfamiliar with Utah BLM- you may have to pass through a closed gate. But this is only for wildlife protection.

Modern RV resort checked ALL of the boxes for some much needed pampering after 7 weeks of (mostly) dry camping. Baypoint Landing was our half way point on a 3 month tour. Clean and reasonably priced laundry ($2.50 each for wash/dry), warm indoor pool, kids den with games and toys that kept my 5 and 7 year old busy, small well kept playground, clean showers with shampoo, conditioner and body wash supplied. I could go on. Yes, the spots are a bit tight (but better than the average RV resort). Coos Bay lacked some of the charm other coastal towns have, but we weren’t really there to do anything but relax at the resort. Mission accomplished.

Obviously the campground can’t control the weather, but it was a miserable night due to weather. Probably could have survived the night in the heat, but we did not expect the high winds. Luckily, the pool isn’t a bad walk across the street and it’s open until midnight. We ended up moving to one of their motel rooms around midnight and they did give us a bit of a discount which was very appreciated. The campground is really just a parking lot behind the gas station, but the gas station store closed at 8:00pm so it was very quiet. Nice wide-open views of the valley. Sites are close together, but you’re not really there to sit at your campsite. I would stay here again, but only if we needed the pool and hook up for a/c. Do not rely on cell coverage for anything but texts.

We pulled in very late, so grabbed the first open spot we could find. It was a large, level site with a patch of boulders in the middle (which ended up occupying the kids for two whole days!) There was more road noise than I would expect for a site in a National Forest (but not too bad) and any views from our particular site were non-existent, although I imagine if you travel further up the road you’ll find some. The night sky was beautiful and fellow campers friendly and respectful. Great cell service for working remotely. Clean sites- didn’t see a single scrap of trash!

Currently trying to enjoy a bonfire at 9:30 at night, with my family, but we can’t even hear each other speak because of the constant barrage of gas powered golf carts (rentals), tractors, and neighbors with loud music. I wish I was exaggerating. The family friendly activities are great, I will give them that. But don’t let your guard down at the pool (the life guards i did see we’re on their phone) and don’t expect your kids to be able to ride their bikes safely. These golf carts are not speed controlled and we often see them running stop signs and having races. Of you’re looking for a nice family friendly get away, the activities may sound appealing. But if you appreciate even the slightest amount of decency from fellow campers, I strongly encourage to go somewhere else- at least if it’s summer.

Given that you know ahead of time you’re camping in Zion, I’m not sure what all the hype is about. Yes, the views are nice, but that’s kind of expected. Other than the views, this campground was completely average. Our site butted up to the main parking lot for the park. Car alarms somehow went off multiple times a day, loud groups eating breakfast and lunch at the picnic tables, people leaving their trash behind, and some people cutting through our site. I was also disappointed at the lack of showers, although the dishwashing station was nice. Bathrooms were fine, i imagine it’s hard to keep up with not only campers using facilities but people from the parking lot using it as well. It was nice to not have to unhook the trailer, as everything you need is within walking distance. Only a five minute walk from our site to Zion Village (restaurants and market) as well as visitor center and shuttle service. If our site hadn’t been next to the parking lot, I may have left a better review. Avoid site A03 if you want more privacy!

This was our first time staying at Oh Ridge and I was a bit disappointed at how close together the sites were. Luckily, we had a wide open area at the back of the site with a great view of the lake and mountains, and we also had friendly, respectful neighbors. I liked how the loops are organized with the (clean!) bathrooms in the middle and 3-4 potable water spigots spaced around loop as well. Most sites didn’t seem to be within walking distance to beach, but without kids and gear, it wouldn’t be so bad (and there is plenty of parking at beach). We saw a family of deer twice a day pass right through our site. Showers and laundry available for fee at private campground next door, although we didn’t get any noise for using our outdoor shower and shower tent. If you can, fill up with fuel before you hit this area. Being close to Yosemite and Mammoth, diesel was nearly $6/gallon and gas wasn’t much cheaper. Cell coverage was great- able to work remotely no problem with video calls.

Small trailers do best here, although that doesn’t mean your site will be small. We had just enough space to fit our 15’ off-road trailer in the driveway. The space around our driveway was large and private, however. The bath house closest to our site was shut down, but there were clean outhouses close by. The main bath/shower house wasn’t too far of a walk for a pay shower (.25 for two minutes), but wouldn’t rely on it for the bathroom. Showers were clean and private. The bathrooms at the shower house were also private/individual.

Beautiful rock beach along Smith river is a short walk from the campsites. Some of the clearest water I’ve ever seen! Also loved the trail through the Redwood grove right up from the beach.
