The New Dumbarton Quarry Campground by the Bay.

Alameda County in Northern California, just opened their first campground in over 50 years and it's different, very different from the typical California Campgrounds. This new campground is called their first "Urban Campground" and it's made to be enjoyed by todays camping families.

If you're looking for backwoods, hiking 3 days into the forest, rafting down class 3 rapids or surviving on grubs and moss in complete isolation... this is not the campground for you. This is a modern weekender or city folk campground for urbanites wanting to get out of San Francisco or Oakland and spend some time doing a simple hike, looking at bay nature wetlands and riding your E-Bike or E-Skateboard down a cute trail or two. This new campground it packed to the gils with modern amenities.

Full 50AMP, 30 AMP or 110 Plugs, Water Hookups and Direct Sewer Connections at every Standard RV Campsite. Concrete Picnic Tables and BBQ Rings. Super Nice Restrooms and Showers, Laundry Room, Camp Store, plus Mimaki & Cisco Wireless Routers throughout the Park. An Amphitheater for Nature Films, Fire Pit and really nice Kids Play Area. The Campground is attached to the Coyote Hills Regional Park for 3+ miles of hiking and biking trails up and down the South East Bay Fremont Wetlands.

I loved it, as an older gentleman my days of "Roughing It" in the Sierra Nevadas are over, yet I still want to enjoy nature, BBQ some steaks or sausages outside, take a walk or hike with my wife & dog but have the comforts of home. This campground delivers in spades, you can enjoy nature all day and in the end, relax in your RV and watch Netflix while falling asleep. I had full 5G Service from AT&T the entire time.

The proximity to city services is close, but not that close... your in a park like setting, can't hear the freeway or modern traffic but I did hear a train in the distance. At night you can see the twinkling lights of Fremont & Newark but the campground is pretty dark and secluded near the wetlands.

Phase 1 is complete, but Phase 2 is coming for more Tent & Small Trailer Camping for dry camping choices.

Is it really camping? I dunno it kinda blurs the lines between camping and glamping, either way my wife, dog and I all enjoyed our stay, and we will return.

Elks Lodges are for Elks Members and their families who travel throughout the United States. There are 2000 Lodges across the USA and this is a great place to stop for a night or two while traveling. This is not a destination location, it's a safe, clean and easy place to stay for the night. The Lodge has a Bar/Lounge and typically Dinner/Pub Grub Food 2 or 3 days a week.

This location has 9 spots, asphalt back in sites , 30 and 50 AMP Service with Water hookups and a "Dump Station" so you can clean out, before you leave to get back on the road.

This location is right off the Mowry 880 Freeway Exit between Oakland and San Jose CA.

Nothing fancy, but convenient and well maintained. It's a great "Traveling Elk" stop over for Night.

So, we have been coming to Memorial Park for years, brought our children here and camped in a Tent, then upgraded to a Coleman Pop-Up Trailer and now a Small 24' Thor RV. It's great to camp under the redwoods, it's a family campground and the place was loaded with families, kids riding bikes, playing in the creek and many activities for children and adults. They have creekside walking trails and hiking up so a small summit.

This is a DRY Camping location, no hookups at the campsites but there is water available in various locations, communal showers and restrooms. You are under the redwoods, so naturally, no cell service anywhere, the 1000 year old trees block any coverage. But if you're looking to disconnect for a weekend, this is the place.

During fire season they asked for no ring fires, but charcoal was ok to cook with. They have many sites to back in an RV but mostly small ones, you might be able to park a 30' RV, but that's about it. Trailer and Tent Sites are more plentiful. They have a camp store with most everything you need and a really nice Ranger Station with mini nature museum about the history of the Camp and the Redwoods.
