Very good site. Level, all services. Nice view! They keep the noise down after 10pm (a neighbor was playing his stereo loud - no call necessary. At 10 pm the rangers came by and asked them to turn it off
Beautiful SF Bay scenery.
Good access to the main N/S Freeway and several South Bay cities as well as SF and Oakland.
A really great place to stay around The City!!

We stayed here 4 nights. Just a super place to stay. Starting with the front gate attendant, Julie, this is a superlative place to stay. Lots of trails to explore. Close to The City attractions. Reasonable price. Just great

The New Dumbarton Quarry Campground by the Bay.
Alameda County in Northern California, just opened their first campground in over 50 years and it's different, very different from the typical California Campgrounds. This new campground is called their first "Urban Campground" and it's made to be enjoyed by todays camping families.
If you're looking for backwoods, hiking 3 days into the forest, rafting down class 3 rapids or surviving on grubs and moss in complete isolation... this is not the campground for you. This is a modern weekender or city folk campground for urbanites wanting to get out of San Francisco or Oakland and spend some time doing a simple hike, looking at bay nature wetlands and riding your E-Bike or E-Skateboard down a cute trail or two. This new campground it packed to the gils with modern amenities.
Full 50AMP, 30 AMP or 110 Plugs, Water Hookups and Direct Sewer Connections at every Standard RV Campsite. Concrete Picnic Tables and BBQ Rings. Super Nice Restrooms and Showers, Laundry Room, Camp Store, plus Mimaki & Cisco Wireless Routers throughout the Park. An Amphitheater for Nature Films, Fire Pit and really nice Kids Play Area. The Campground is attached to the Coyote Hills Regional Park for 3+ miles of hiking and biking trails up and down the South East Bay Fremont Wetlands.
I loved it, as an older gentleman my days of "Roughing It" in the Sierra Nevadas are over, yet I still want to enjoy nature, BBQ some steaks or sausages outside, take a walk or hike with my wife & dog but have the comforts of home. This campground delivers in spades, you can enjoy nature all day and in the end, relax in your RV and watch Netflix while falling asleep. I had full 5G Service from AT&T the entire time.
The proximity to city services is close, but not that close... your in a park like setting, can't hear the freeway or modern traffic but I did hear a train in the distance. At night you can see the twinkling lights of Fremont & Newark but the campground is pretty dark and secluded near the wetlands.
Phase 1 is complete, but Phase 2 is coming for more Tent & Small Trailer Camping for dry camping choices.
Is it really camping? I dunno it kinda blurs the lines between camping and glamping, either way my wife, dog and I all enjoyed our stay, and we will return.

We’ve never, ever been camping where the fire pit has never been used. Nice place for biking and hiking, bird watching and relaxing. For out of town folks good location as base to visit Bay Area, Half Moon bay etc. We live 29 minutes away and it was a perfect getaway in our RV. Full hookups and WiFi is included.
The only few downsides were, site 53 has a large, fenced power distribution panel basically in the site. There is NO shade, somewhat windy in the 2 afternoons we were there.

Ridiculously expensive compared to your typical government-run facility, but this *is* the Bay Area and it is the only RV place for miles. If you're coming westbound on 84 ignore what your GPS tells you to do (at least as of October 2021) and get off on the Thornton/Paseo Padre exit. Head north (Paseo Padre) and take the first left.
This is a very nice campground (new as of August, 2021). The sites are far enough apart for a reasonably comfortable feel and the access roads are pleasantly wide. Coyote Hills Regional Park with its miles of trails is within walking distance. Grocery shopping, gasoline, etc. is an easy mile or two drive away in Newark.
The closest propane we found was the U-Haul facility on Thornton Ave in Fremont. Listed price was expensive but we got a discount by filling our two 30# tanks (the attendant said that we got the discount for "filling bigger tanks").
The campground WiFi was quite fast when it worked (which, in fairness, was most of the time). There were times when we couldn't connect or there was no internet. Fortunately for such times we had good T-Mobile LTE service.
Be aware that when the wind is from the west you'll get that fresh "south bay smell" from the bay shoreline.

We stayed here before we started our work shifts for a few days. Brand new! Awesome hiking and biking from your RV site. Quiet, new concrete pads, picnic table - it was nice. Bathrooms nice but the showers were just ok. The water had the cheap “spray” nozzle and the water was lukewarm! For the Bay Area, this is a hidden gem!

With campgrounds being far and few between in the Bay area, we were excited to find this new campground with availability during the holidays.
The 20 mile drive to Orinda took anywhere from 35 minutes to 75 minutes depending on traffic.
The campground is nicely laid out; nicely lit; safe and clean. It is unfortunate that they didn’t make the pads level. They are high in the back and off from side to side. We were unable to get our 36’ Class A level even with switching sites and trying to manually level it.
The gate is locked from 10:00 pm until 5:00 am. If you get back after curfew you need to park outside the gate and walk to your campsite.
There are hiking and biking trails and picnic areas.

We ended up here despite the price because we wanted to stay in the area longer and Anthony Chabot was booked up. It is a lovely place despite the price. Clear views across the valley, hills in the background. Still in process of getting the campground set up, the camp store and laundry facilities are not yet up and running. Did not visit the restroom or shower facilities. Will second all previous comments about leveling it although we did get ours level with a couple blocks, but it looked cattywampus in the site because of the way the driveways are drawn.
Very user friendly location. Easy 30 minute bike ride to most services, the roads have ample bike lanes. Many miles of trails for hiking, cycling and mountain biking. Follow the paved trail at the campground to the north and west to get to the wildlife refuge and out to the jetties overlooking the bay. Hooks into the Alameda Creek cycling trail, which is paved and a lovely ride.
Aside from the price and the fact that it is very windy, especially towards the afternoon, the only downside is that the water pressure is extremely low. We use the water pump when more water pressure is called for. Also keep in mind the gates lock at 10pm. You can get out, but you can't get back in until morning, although its not a long walk from the gate to your site.

This is sort of an urban park. I mean it is surrounded immediately by nature and next to a lovely nature preserve and is almost close enough to the Sf bay to see it (and it’s easy to walk to it).
But beyond a mile away the mayhem of the Sf Bay Area is present. So this is a good place if you need to be in this area but not a great camping destination.
There is a little greenery but it’s really just site upon site stacked close together with no privacy. The facilities are all brand new and the campground wifi is the fastest I have ever seen (well over 100mbps up and down).
The main design flaw is that the sites are not very level. We had to go to an extreme to level our trailer and almost couldn’t. I don’t know who laid these pads but they really didn’t understand what is needed for an Rv park.
The other potential issue is there is a ten pm curfew and no where to park nearby legally nearby once the gates are locked.
