OK, so you gotta see the meteor crater & get your picture taken "standin' on the corner in Winslow Arizona" and staying here is the only option, but next time, keep rolling....
We stayed here in mid-March and it's pricey, $71.20 with tax for 2 nights, which is a bit much considering there is nothing but the crater nearby - do not buy fuel here! Get it in Winslow when you get your picture taken. The CG is all gravel, nice enough laundry with book share and TV area adjacent to the gas station/store. The meteor crater visitors center is private and they charge $30 for both of us (one senior) including the RV park discount. You may as well take the "free" meteor rim walking tour since you essentially already paid for it. I found the tour worthwhile & liked the guide. Do it once ;)

We had every intent on staying here only to find the gate shut with a sign saying it was closed due to flooding. We ended up at Corvina Beach, just up the road. We did not come back & tour the closed CG, but Corvina had unmistakable evidence of flooding as well with lots of cones warning folks not to park too close to the edge due to soft surfaces. I recommend heading the warnings or it will cost you to have a tow truck get you out!

It's going to take a lot of work to shore back up the edge if they even have the resources, so Salt Creek may be closed for quite a while.

We were traveling back to the NW from Southern CA and Clear Lake area fit well with our schedule. I found this place out on the Good Sam search and it got some recent good reviews saying the couple that bought the resort were actively working to renovate the whole place.

We chose a site that backs up to the lake with a gorgeous view. The weirdness starts here. There was only one other site occupied. Well, OK it's mid week and late March, so I wrote that off. As I looked around, more and more stuff did not add up. There were a multitude of partially started projects that abruptly ended, like flood debris was raked into many little piles with the rakes leaning against a tree. A very green fish tank was sitting in the communal picnic area by the lake outside with barely visible large, fancy fish inside. Sites were not swept clean and the recycling bins were full. The office was a mess and full of construction materials, but no sign of recent work. I went looking for the garbage bins, but was told the one for the lake side was taken away and was encouraged to throw our bag onto the growing pile by the office. We found a dumpster in the other section of the resort and it was piled several feet above the top. Also, the wifi name provided by the manager did not exist, nor did the password work when using a wifi name of the resort. The cable didn't work either and looked like it hadn't since February surmised by the error message received when trying to connect.

The weirdest, most unsettling,, issue for me about this place, was in spite of several "private property" signs, people were using the communal picnic area as a fishing spot. There is a community park with a boat launch just a few feet down the road. I figured they would go home when it got dark, but no.... Most of them left by 11:00 PM, but one guy stayed standing directly in front of our rig with his stuff on our site's picnic table until at least 1:45 - 3:30 (I was checking regularly). I was scared and we were tempted to leave, but too scared to leave our rig. I knew he was not a paying guest, as he drove there. A guest would have walked the short distance. The guy himself didn't really scare me, but the fact that anyone can just drive up and hang out in our site with absolutely no security scared me.

I will do a much better job at checking security before I spend the night at any future RV parks.

This is the 2nd year in a row we have stayed in Roadrunner loop at Lake Pleasant, both times in late January. This loop is built on a ridge where one side overlooks the lake, facing east and the area, across the road, faces West, across a valleyt. Unless you get a site on the road, there is no bad site. We had a water view in 2017 and in 2018, we had gorgeous sunsets. No downside to either one. I've hiked all the trails now in the park. They are all nice, with the best being Pipeline Canyon/Yavapai Point - gorgeous view & good chance you'll see some wild burros! As was mentioned in other reviews, do not follow your GPS directions. Take AZ 74 to N Castle Hot Springs Rd, then right to Lake Pleasant Access road. This will take you to the main park entrance where they will give you a map.

This is a super nice park with huge sites. I did not care for the pull throughs tho - they are more like pull overs next to the road. Also take care to avoid the group area on the weekends - VERY NOISEY! We hiked both the Wind Tunnel (very popular) and the Mountain Pass Hikes. They are both great & I would rate them as moderate to easy. Access to Mesa was excellent. We stayed here in early February 2018.

I am catching up with reviews, so we actually were here in late February 2018. Most of the sites here are first-come-first-served except for a handful of partial hook-up sites. After hearing how popular this park is, we arrived before 11:00 AM Sunday morning. Karen, the host, came racing over to meet us in her golf cart, catching us before we turned into the hook-up section. All the hook-up sites were taken, so she showed us the 3 available dry camping spots & we gladly chose one. They were all nice, big sites with awesome views. Karen showed us where to get fuel, groceries, propane, wineries (with tasting coupons, no less!) & recommended one of the most memorable restaurants I've ever patronized, the Adobe Deli! You have to be a bit open-minded when going there, as it's got a lot of character. I'll leave it at that.... Back to Rock Hound, they have one 2? mile hike up the hill above the CG with nice views of the area & the highest concentration of prickly pear cactus I've ever seen. They also have a little cactus garden accessible to the hook-up loop. There is one nice, newish bathroom with showers located also in the hook-up loop, near the dump station. There is a pit toilet in the picnic/overflow area. This CG becomes a circus every afternoon when new campers roll in. Since it fills up every day by noon or sooner, Karen (the hardest working host I've ever seen) greets each one and first places them in the overflow area, then sides of the road & maybe even the parking lot at the visitor's center after hours. I don't know if they actually turn people away, or the late campers have a better plan B option.

We actually stayed here in early March 2018. I had never been to NM before, so I didn't know what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised by this campground. It's part of Elephant Butte State Park, but its quite a bit North of town and the other campgrounds in the State Park. The sites are level gravel, concrete picnic tables, pergola and fire rings. Many sites have lake views and those that do not, have mountain views. The bathroom was newish & clean and there is access to a trail that goes all the way down to the other end of the park. This park is so quiet at night, you can hear the coyotes breath, much less howl! There's fuel, visitors center, restaurants, etc. in the town of Truth or Consequences. I recommend the Point Blanc Winery & Tap Room. Nice restaurant adjoining a bowling alley, both of which owned by a cute, young couple. Excellent food & craft NM Brew! We had to eat there twice, so good! The museum in TorC is worth an hour or 2.

We stayed here March 10-14, 2018. Our first time in the Cottonwood/Sedona area. I will be back to this park someday despite the 2 errors I made. I will never book Site 95 again, as was horribly unlevel front to back. The reservation website may have mentioned it, but I was probably super happy to get a site at this really busy campground to notice. Also, I will never be back in this area during spring break. Way too much traffic trying to get to Sedona & the entire area of Cottonwood was super busy. My bad... We had fun hiking the area, visiting Tuzigoot ruins & town of Jerome (I could have spent all day here!).

Unfortunately, this campground was destroyed in a fire and is indefinitely closed. Check first to see if a miracle happens and it reopens!

This is a gorgeous park with fabulous access to Tucson. The weather was rainy, cold & windy when we were there in mid February 2018, so we did not do any hiking. There is tons of other things to do nearby, so we were busy nonetheless. I was disappointed with our site, A8. The power pole is on the wrong side of the site, so our Travel Trailer main door opened to the road side verses the site side. We could have driven down the wrong way on the campground road to park it so the living side faced our picnic table, but my husband was not willing to do so. Another problem with A8 is it shares the entrance to a main trail, so we had hikers, dog walkers & horses trodding through our site constantly. We moved to another site in B loop & were much happier.
