Used Cape Lookout Cabins Camp Ferry to get over. Everyone was awesome and helpful. Potable water in two spots on the island. Sound side at lighthouse has small store you can buy a few cold waters and swim in front of lighthouse. When you get off ferry you can buy ice and they have toilets and a place to dump trash. Heads up, bring lots of bug spray for yourself and gear. Tons of seashells and beach frontage. Seems like there is no one there, but take a ride a few miles down or up and you’ll run into other campers or fishers. Great place to relax and catch some sun. Cell service varied with where you were on beach.

Would I stay here again? Probably. The location is hard to beat. Quick walk to the beach or to restaurant across the street, and plenty of beach towns around to cruise and check out.
Biking, fishing, or just want to kick it on the beach - you got it.
Bathrooms are so-so. Showers are hot and they got tp. Avoid booking a site close to any of the facilities.
Campground is probably hit or miss depending on flat out luck.
No rules beyond check in at this time and check out at that time. Sounds great right?
Depends on what kind of camping experience you are looking for. Do you want to base camp and come back and crash in your tent or rv, not going to happen until after midnight. Even if your neighbors are respectful around you, everyone is pack in so tight that the four or five groups that are 8 people deep in a site and have music going full blast won’t let you sleep.
If you want somewhere to meet overlanding folk that are using the campsites as a rave in Moab, this might be your spot. Bring bug spray, bring a mallet to hammer stakes in (standard cheapo L aluminums are fine), bring headphones to drown out noise after 11pm.
Beach is nice, get there early and expect it to be crowded. Lifeguards on site until 5pm.

Stayed one night when rolling through to Lake Norman. Site 63 was a walk in but super close to parking. Right on water. Depending on your neighbors depends on noise level. Lots of little kids next to us which was fine all was quiet at night. Stayed Saturday before Easter so a tad cool for tent camping (30s overnight). Restrooms and showers were clean and easy accessible. Park staff super helpful and nice.

Secluded, well maintained campsite. Port-a potties were clean. Nice tent pad and fire ring. Not many activities other than fishing or mountain bike trails.
