We dropped our son off at a nearby college which took longer than planned. We were exhausted from our 7 hour drive and didn’t want to drive to our next location. This worked out perfectly. There is some road noise but we were so tired, we barely heard it. There was a police officer patrolling the area as well. We were the only camper in the lot.

Mostly Full Timers Here. Very Interesting Situation. Some Decorations And Decor That Are Probably Not Something you Would Want young Kids To See

After a long day in Savannah we had a quick and easy drive to the campground. There are not a lot of campsites on the huge property. They have horses, goats and tons of room for walking. There are many old (and new) buildings to view. There were several weddings on property but we didn’t even know they were there. There is some road noise and trains nearby.

This was our 3rd time staying here. Every trip has been perfect!
The staff is always very friendly and helpful. There are beautiful views of the lake, bridge and island. They have a shuttle to the ferry and a bike rental so you do not have to deal with rental on the island. There were fireworks on the weekends and lots of things for the kids to do. There is a great trail that you can use to ride into the city!

There is only one access to the beach (through the parking lot) unless you have a site that backs up to the lake.

The campground is in a very nice location close to the beautiful beach and town.

It’s a quiet campground and the sunset was amazing. Don’t forget to clap with the crowd once the sun sets.

This location does not take reservations but it does not appear to fill up. There is a large slough (swamp) that had a very pretty sunrise. There are flush toilets but no showers or hot water. The sites are large and spacious but a little uneven. There are a lot of shady sites, a few with water view too. We would stay again.

This Campground Is Next To The Water Treatment Facility. The Smell Was Awful. If You Are Sensitive To Smells, I Wouldn’t Stay Here. Staff Was Great, Location Is Perfect And Facilities Are Nice. Only Deterrent Is The Water Treatment Facility

Our son attends college in the area and we needed a site for one night. I would not come here for a vacation. Many of the sites appear to be occupied by full time residents. The campground was actually very full and we could not figure out how to make a reservation (we arrived at 10 pm).

We ended up finding information on the office door. We were able to dump our porta pottie and sleep. It wasn’t great and I wouldn’t want to hang out there but it served our purpose.

I love this property. You honestly can’t get much better. The only downfall is the county reservation system. You can’t modify or cancel reservations outside of business hours. A water site opened and we wanted to switch but there wasn’t any option to switch sites through my account. They need to get an updated system. It was sad to see many sites go unused because their system is so outdated.
Showers are a little rough and they have a ton of raccoons.
