Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on May 12, 2024I confirmed with management on Dec 10, 2020 that overnight parking is permissible. Classic parking lot boondocking. Plenty of excess asphalt or concrete for choosing a space. Lots of flood lights for security. Right next to the freeway, so you'll experience the typical road noise. Go inside and say thanks!

We parked here overnight on our way to South Dakota. The parking lot was large and very well lit. We encountered 2 other rv’s when we arrived. Walmart is right around the corner (1/4 mile) if you need supplies. We were awoke by an ambulance about 2am due the parking lot being located next to I-74 but hey, it’s free. You get a great view with the bridge over the Illinois River. I did contact Bass Pro customer to get permission and she informed me that they were ok with it as long as I parked towards the back of the parking lot.

We dropped our son off at a nearby college which took longer than planned. We were exhausted from our 7 hour drive and didn’t want to drive to our next location. This worked out perfectly. There is some road noise but we were so tired, we barely heard it. There was a police officer patrolling the area as well. We were the only camper in the lot.

We arrived on a Tuesday evening in June and only 1 other RV was in the lot. There is a bit of road noise but our fan cancels most of that out. The BassPro is very nice and has an arcade and a unique bowling alley. I’d recommend for a quick (and free) overnight stay.

This has been our overnight parking spot for many years when leaving Indy late afternoon to get a head start on the next day. We have logged over 10 overnight stays.
We always call ahead to be sure their policy hasn’t changed. Bass Pro used to have a restaurant with table service, but now it is more akin to microwave prepared meals that you order at the bowling counter. Nevertheless, we still manage to find something for camping or clothing to pay for their accommodating us.
There is noise from the interstate nearby and at times kids tend use the parking lot as a place to meet up. Friday evenings in the summer we have walked a car show that is on the river between Walmart and Bass Pro.
We prefer to park just left of the main road going into the store or the south east edge (parking on the right side of main road) along the service road.
