We would love to give this a higher review, but the campground has some flaws that prevent that. Let's start with the PROs list....

As ususal, military facilities (FamCamps) are great places to stay. They are usually smaller than standard RV parks, which mean less people. They are ALWAYS clean, the people are friendlier and quieter, and the military community has a family feel amongst all who pass through. The added bonus is that you have full use of the base facilities as well, including a commissary, exchange, gym, parks, etc.

This particular campground is really nice. They have their own dog park, as well as a larger one on base. They have a really nice rec. room with movies, books, comfy leather chairs, free wifi, and office space to work semi-privately. There is a small laundry room with 4 washers and 4 dryers and a free ice machine. The camp hosts are EXTREMELY nice and helpful and keep the facilities immaculate. There is a large park next door, with a kids splash area, covered picnic benches, and plenty of room to have your own football game. There are walking paths that lead to duck ponds, trees and grass every where, sidewalks along all the streets, and several gas stations, fast food places, and banking facilities on base. It is typical of what you would expect from an Air Force Base.

The Cons.....

FamCamp, like most RV parks, is located right next to a major road. The road is busy most of the day, and doesn't really quit down until after 10pm. It's bearable, but a bit annoying at times. Also, Hill AFB is home to the new F-35 fighter jets, which are cool to see and watch, but after the first day or two get extremely annoying with their flying (because the are SOOOO loud). If you can get past the noise (which we learned to ignore) the biggest CON here is the RV sites. Although you are on level asphalt and have full hookups, what should be one large pull through site is actually two sites, butt to butt. Not only do you have a neighbor at your rear end, the space between sites is fairly small, so you feel like 4 RVs are parked in one RV location. (Hope you like your neighbors). The water and electric hook ups are also located in odd locations, in relativity as to how they have you park. Make sure you have at least 30-40 feet of water hose, sewer hose, and power cords.

There are a few sites, along the back road next to the track, which are single pull through sites. If you can reserve these, you would have a much better experience. They have plenty of overflow area, so if you don't make reservations, you will at least have a place to dry camp until something becomes available. Overall, we really enjoyed Hill AFB and the surrounding areas of Salt Lake City (plenty of things to do here). We would stay again, but would definitely reserver a back row site.

Crowded is an understatement! The spots are close, like camping in an oversized parking lot. With a big rig (we are 42'), driving down the streets was quite difficult, due to the many cars parked along the RV sites. We were just barely able to get into our spot. It seemed like this was a place where factory workers were living. Each RV site had 2 or 3 cars parked along it, along with furniture, bikes, tarps, etc. Thankfully, a lot of those workers left in the morning (for work) and we were able to pull our rig out, without having to ask people to move their cars (we would of had to otherwise).

The park was super clean and the staff was friendly. The sites are concrete and level, with some grass and decent hookups. They have a ton of amenities, like adult pool, family pool, gym, propane, trash pickup, etc. It is very pretty with a pond and lots of grass.

There was quite a bit of noise - we think it was from the nearby factories, but are not sure.

This park sits less than 50 yards from the side of the interstate. They don't have a fence or trees to help buffer the noise. Since it sits on the edge of town, you hear all of the semi-trucks hitting their jake brakes as they slow down to come into town, or throttling their engines to speed up as they leave town. You hear this ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT. It never lets up!

The park was cozy, and the staff was super friendly. The pads are gravel, and level, and the hook ups were excellent (including cable tv and wifi).

If you MUST stay here, get a spot as far back from Hwy 191 as you can!

This place was very clean and well taken care of. The camp host was very friendly. Getting into the park was a cinch, as it is literally right off Interstate 90. The road noise is not bad, and dies down in the evening. If traveling from the West and heading East, and you are a taller rig, do not get off at exit 392. Follow the directions on their website, as that exit has a lower clearance coming under the Interstate to get to the campground.

The sites are mostly pull-throughs, with some back-ins. The area of each site has grass, picnic table and fire ring. They are very clean, and manicured spots. There is an old country gas station across the street. The town of Reed Point does not have much to do or see, but this is a great place for a night's rest after traveling Interstate 90 all day. Full hookups make for a great re-fill and dump on your mid-way travels.

They do have showers and laundry, etc, but with Covid we were unable to access or use (not that we needed them), so we can not review those. Price is a little high, but since the local Harvest Host golf courses wanted us to pay for a round of golf to stay, we would rather use the money and take advantage of hookups at the RV park.

There were very friendly, and this was a beautiful place and very peaceful to relax and walk and to see the battle ground, pet friendly, the owner let me ride in his Jeep one day and went back to check on the cows in the field and as little 4 wheeling as well, it was a little pricy but sooo worth it. You will enjoy the people there and they sell ice cream.

Warning : Make sure you stock up on all your food, alcohol, coffee and water etc prior arrival, the other stores are far and little to none.

This campground was horrible in almost every way. The good points were that the staff was friendly and it is right down the street from the Gettysburg Military Park. That's about it.

The sites were extremely un-level, and not because of the rain that had been going on before and during our stay. The gravel pads were in desperate need of filing and grading (which we saw a truck come in and service two pads, but they need to do all of them). On top of the gravel sites been uneven, the grass around them was so patchy, it was hardly grass anymore - just mud. We had such a swamp at our site, we had to use our RV rug just to keep from getting stuck in the mud as we walked to and from our rig. When the gravel truck came through, we asked the maintenance guy if he could take some of the new gravel and shovel it in front of our door, to help with our situation, and he refused to do so.

The roads are EXTREMELY narrow! Our rig was on an end site, and we cringed every time someone came in or out, thinking they would clip our rig. The poor guy next to us did get his truck side swiped by a camper coming in.

The amenities they offer are not much more than any other RV park we have ever been to, yet they charge twice as much. Small laundry room with old machines, a pathetic putt-putt course, a pond that looked like West Nile Virus was born there, trash bins overflowing, mud every where, and since it's a horse camp, you can imagine what was all over the ground. They give you a couple free tourist spot passes, but I would have rather paid a lesser price and chose the activities I wanted to pay for, instead.

It's also a seasonal campers spot... meaning people park their trailers there all year round, and come on the weekends. Most of the seasonal rigs are in desperate need of cleaning and yard work. If the park managers allow their seasonal sites to look this way, you can imagine how they just don't care about the park overall.

We don't recommend this camp, and we will not be back.

Sorry, no pics. We didn't want to be there, so I never thought of pulling out the camera.

This is a hidden gem! Not far off Hwy 90, but far enough you don’t get any traffic noise. The park is small but spacious, super clean and well maintained, and the camp host is very friendly. They have a little laundry room, playground, and even a propane refill site. Top quality and a great value!

We camped on the E loop, which is dry camping at only $15. There are other loops, some with full and some with partial hookups. The reason we chose E, was because the park ranger told us that on this side of the park, cell reception was the best. He was correct!!!

We drove around, and found that all the loops over on the Park Ranger side of the park have ZERO cell reception, but loops C, D, and E have EXCELLENT cell reception. I'm assuming it has to do with the clearance of the mountain range, to the cell tower... who knows.

Loop E has the better lake views, compared to any other loop. There are also OHV trails to access, right from within Loops C and E. Just across the dry river bed, from Loop E, there is BLM camping, and lots of people there seem to be enjoying it. There is a dirt road (Wickenburg Rd) that takes you out there, and a little place called Wayside Inn that caters to those folks (store, water, gas, dump, propane - just not diesel). We will probably choose this option if we return. Why pay $15 a night, when you can camp for free? :)

The lake is HUGE, and there are all kinds of walking/hiking trails, plus lots of OHV trails in surrounding areas. Fishing permits are expensive, through Arizona Fish and Game. The Ranger's admin. building, here at the park, has a decent little store with some needed grocery items and ice. If you need gas or propane, you can head over to Wayside Inn which is just a 10 minute drive down a dirt road from the state park main road.

The campground is HUGE (400 acres). Although, they only have 23 “overnighter” spots, as the rest of the park is for seasonal campers. There are two large lakes with RV sites around both, plus extra RV sites down another road, as well as cabin rentals. They have a large in-ground pool, new bath houses, a playground, boat rentals, cart rentals, an activities center, and a barn with a petting zoo. There are a lot of seasonal RV campers here, and they get first dibs on the lake front property. The park is very clean, spacious, and you can tell that all the staff take pride in it.

Getting to the park was a bit nerve racking for our big rig set up (42’ 5th wheel). When you get off the main interstate and start on the country highways, you go through small towns with historic buildings and small roads. It was a very tight fit in some places, but it is manageable. About 5 miles out, you start on the country back roads. Hopefully no other RV is coming out, while you’re coming in, because these are very narrow roads with almost no sides in most areas. But, again, we managed. Once you get to the park, the sites and camp roads are easily manageable.

All of the RV sites have full hookups (I believe) with excellent water pressure and each utility is located conveniently for hooking up. Unfortunately, the two wells they use for the campground have some issues. One is high in iron and one is high in sulfur. Both are safe for washing and even drinking (yuck) but be sure to have at least one in-line water filter, to help dissipate the sulfur smell or filter out the iron. We have a double water filter system, and still had a pretty strong sulfur smell at the taps. Thankfully, we use an external RO system for all our drinking and cooking, and that completely got out the sulfur smell. The owner informed us that they are digging two new wells, so maybe that will help. One of the maintenance staff said they take weekly water tests (not verifiable) to insure the water safety. Once you get past the initial “yuck” of it all, it’s not so bad. You don’t smell of sulfur after your shower, just soap.

Their FaceBook page is loaded with complaints of the staff and the rules. People talk of too many rules and that they are too strictly enforced, with the staff being extremely rude and unreasonable while monitoring you. Well, they do have a lot of rules - three pages to be exact (one for camping, one for the pool, and one for pets) - plus there are signs posted all over the park, reminding you of rules. I will say that the rules were all reasonable and mostly common sense. If you follow the rules, and have basic respect, you should not encounter any kind of problem. All of the staff we encountered were very nice, and not rude in any way. From the front desk to the grounds keepers, everyone was helpful and respectful. We even spoke with the owner, who went out her way to bring us mail. We let her know that the tree in our spot was overgrown, not allowing us to extend our awning, so she sent maintenance over the next day to trim it.

We originally fond the campground on the AllStays Military App. The site said they offered military discounts, but it turns out that they don’t. We mentioned this on the phone, at the time of making the reservation, and the front desk apologized for the mistake. When we got to camp, the front desk told us the owner felt bad for the confusion, and offered us 5 free days of firewood (which they deliver to your site) or 2 days of boat rentals. We thought that was more than fair, and a very nice gesture on their part.

The biggest problems we had were with the lawn mowers and golf carts. Obviously, this is a large place and requires a lot of maintenance to keep it looking as immaculate as it is, but that means workers working ALL THE TIME! Lawn mowers were going as early as 8am and as late as 8pm on MOST days. It wasn’t constant mowing, but enough that it was annoying on most days we were there.

The park was a ghost town when we arrived, and all during the week. Friday evening, the seasonal campers started to flow in, and then it was a golf cart parade all weekend long. Every day, and night, for the 3 days of the weekend, all they do is ride up and down the streets with their golf carts, visiting other campers. It was nice to chat and visit and be welcomed into the community, but at the same time it was a bit annoying to deal with the constant flow of traffic and noise, and never being able to peacefully sit out and enjoy the patio.

Because of the lush trees, it was impossible for us to get a signal for our Dish satellite. However, some sites are not as shaded and you may have better luck. Thankfully, the park offers free wifi and it is FAST and DEPENDABLE! Cell phones worked great - both ATT and Verizon.

Overall, it’s an amazingly beautiful park, packed full amenities, but the noise of mowers and carts, plus the cost, really make us not want to return.

We scouted this park out when we paid for the dump station ($20!) and used their laundry facilities (open to the public and $$$). We did not stay (for reference).

If you like LOTS OF KIDS GONE WILD and seasonal camping where everyone knows everyone, then this is the place for you. SO MANY PEOPLE and it was so loud and so congested with bikes and golf carts and wondering kids. I'm sure the amenities they offer make it appealing to families, but if you are looking for a peaceful place to rest and "RV" with out "living" I suggest to stay clear.

The dump station was not easily accessible for rigs - thank god we brought our honey bucket. It was down several small curvy roads and we would have had to take several more to get out of there, because there was no backing up if we had our rig.

The laundry room was incredibly filthy! Years of dirt and grime never washed from the floors, machines, walls, etc. The machines were way over priced, but worked well. The seasonal campers bring in their laundry put it in a machine and then forget it about for hours, leaving the machines tied up.

There is a stocked store on site, but it's quite expensive. The staff were all friendly. They also had a car vacuum area, next to the laundry facility, for a price.

We stayed with friends, in the city of Raymond, who work for law enforcement. They told us that they CONSTANTLY arrest criminals in this park!

DO NOT RECOMMEND!
