We arrived at 11 pm after a long rainy drive with only a rough idea of where to go. We spotted the guard shack and checked in which required ID and vehicle registration but it was done quickly. The employees where very easy to work with.
The parking lot was large enough to avoid parking by the dude with his generator running. The lot and easy to navigate and it wasn’t too noisy sleeping was easy to navigate around. We didn’t get a chance to use the casino restaurants but would like to next time.
Many thanks to Ilani for allowing us to park overnight in such a nice environment.
Arrived at 11 pm after a long drive. No guard attendant this time. Lot is slopped a bit. Kind hard to get level front to back while still hitched. Was pretty busy. A fair amount of highway noise but otherwise a good easy one night stop.
We arrived just past dark and we knew where to go after looking at satellite maps. There were no defined parking lines, no posted rules. There was one pop up camper that looked as if they’d been living there for awhile. It was nice to have the mini mart near by but it was over priced. Decent price on fuel and convenient.
I went in the casino to check it out but only lasted 5 min- that’s not my thing. It was rainy and the gravel parking lot had puddles. It was however nice and quiet and we slept great. Didn’t have to level too much. Nice quick overnight stop and was nice to get away from I5.

So, this was our first ever stay at a full hook-up RV resort where we fully hooked up. IE we christened the sewer hose. Don’t get me wrong though, we’ve done a lot of camping and my preference is somewhere serene and isolated so this is just the opposite. Small sites and lots of things going on and people wondering what you are up to. Because we only booked a night at a time, we got assigned a smal site at the back - unlucky site #13.
But, at the time this is what we needed to shelter rain storms as our planned campsite was Oceano Dunes which was closed due to storm activity. We appreciated the water sewer and electric to charge out batteries and explore Pismo. Washrooms were adequate and clean but dated. Pool wasn’t quite warm enough for me and my son and there was no hot tub.
Our highlight was leaving The Rv resort and spending a sunny afternoon between rain storms at oceano.

We’ve come back and while the facilities are a little old and the grounds have small bits of camper trash, we keep coming back to this unique beach front but protected campsite. We love the sites at the front parallel to the beach - but these sites are dry camping.
Easy access to San Simeon, Cambria, Hearst Castle etc. we will be back again in a few years time. We love walking the beach.

Stayed here for two nights exploring the state park area. The campground is wonderful, the spaces wide with trees between you and your neighbour and hookups on both sides of the pad too! The golf course was very green and pleasant to look at. However st $115 per night the wifi didn’t work at all and the pool was dirty and the check in was cursory without the ability to add colour to the area we arrived to.
Shower stalls by the pool were just a tad janky for such a high price in my opinion. Some sort of RV club took over a good part of the pool deck making it awkward to use the hot tub area. I would consider staying here again but might also check if the area had something with better value for us.

We stopped here for 2 nights to avoid the weekend in tourist areas. The campsite is ok and maintained just enough but it is evident it is just hanging on- barely enough maintenance.
Don’t come during a busy time, camp sites are. Wet close together and your picnic table is right beside your neighbours utilities and sewer. There were only a few other units here and the park areas are decent. The washroom is decent but not great. Sites are paved with dirt aprons, some are grass
Cell phone data connectivity was very slow for us.
Also you could hear loud vehicles from town and from the freeway.

We were surprised at the 4 star reviews. Although we arrived on a wet and windy afternoon it was clear this campsite is old and shabby and just a breath away from the downhill slide into disarray.
The infrastructure was old, sites were shabby and in disarray with camper trash and charcoal all over the site which was hilly and uneven.
In addition to this the access was fairly far off the beaten path and the roads were a bit rough accessing the area. Furthermore the roads in the campsite were narrow, hilly and very tight in on spot right on the edge of a small cliff.
Walking on the beach was nice as were the ocean sounds. The washrooms and showers were not too clean and the showers were a turn off.
All of this and poor cell service.

We showed up on a Sunday night during spring break and happened to get site 28 the only one available. The sites are tight and narrow and with our midsize suv and 22 ft trailer we were just able to stay hooked up.
Loved the proximity to the ocean and the campground seemed cozy with a little cafe we didn’t use.
We were then left staring at our neighbours generator 6 ft away and breathing the exhaust. We had to walk away for an hour. Thankfully that stopped. Camping should ban generators imho.
We wanted to fill our water tank on the way out and that was NOT permitted. The state parks person stood guard of the tap until we were on our way. No explanation given.
We decided to leave early the next day. It was a decent stop over. As an international the only way to pay was via web app and the Ventura county reservation system is not friendly to international credit cards and the website rejected my international data roaming SIM cards so I was forced to process cc payments over unsecured wifi. One night is $42 but the self serve reservation fee is $10 so we had to pay 52 to book our own campsite.
