Two weeks ago on our across MT, we stayed at the luxurious West Glacier KOA for several nights, and heading for Great Falls decided to try this KOA rather than the other RV Park which sounded iffy.

They had room for our 27’ trailer and we were gladdened to see our site have shade trees, and nice vegetation separation between sites. Nice to have the shade after a warm and windy day getting here.
We were in the “older” area. The newer area has little to no shade until years of tree growth can provide it.

Some reviewers mentioned a lot of kid noise and activity, but on our Saturday arrival, not that much kid noise at all. They have a nice water park setup for kids, and an amazing round 2800 pound granite ball sitting on a 2300 pound pedestal and water flowing out of the base pushing up the ball with only 20psi water pressure is enough to make the ball rotate if someone pushes it around. Cool!

It was very quiet at night, and maybe slight discernible distant traffic noise, but hardly noticeable. No aircraft noise from the base either.

All in all, a good place to stay.

I agree with others. And I am glad to have this place as a possible stop over on future trips passing along I-90. Aug 14, 2022, a Sunday afternoon, and only two other rv’s here. Nice grass, shade trees, our site level-no need to unhook. Very peaceful, though train tracks are nearby, but we enjoy trains and whistles (change of mind in morning?). The sites west of the rest rooms are 30A, east 15A.

Restrooms are aged, but better than outhouses.

Best to check Ritzville for any activities at the Rodeo area, or Fairgrounds area to make sure local events are not here. For instance, the Rodeo is on Labor Day, and a worker here said this is packed. Otherwise, availability is likely.

We traveled from Glacier NP using US 2 to Williston, ND. Not many options along the way, but this was fine for our stay. The back-in sites are for smaller trailers, our 27’ might not have fit but we used the parallel sites with a grass strip maybe 20’ wide with living side facing living side on the other side of the strip. Not a big deal, and the grass and trees made it nice.

While US2 in town, passes by on the south side, and a train yard is on the north side, we weren’t bothered by either.

So, nothing special nor bad and so I gave it an average 3 stars.

TravellingMan pretty much said it all, and his review was in 2021, so this 8/18/2022 is up to date.
After the long lonely sort of trip from West Glacier, and about 4 hours, this seems like an oasis.

The owners are rebuilding the solid fence between Hwy 2 and the park. That should quiet things down some, but at least for now, we aren’t bothered by the highway noise. On the other side is a large RR yard, switching yard etc, but so far in two hours, pretty quiet.

With tax, we paid $58 for our site, good for our 49’ total length.

While there are other options for overnight camping, it seems almost all roads off Hwy 2 are dusty gravel ones…and I don’t like to get all dusty!

Still relevant. We paid $44/night, FHU. Sunny sites with tree shade options. Nice separation and layout of sites so they seem roomy compared to many typ rv parks.

We are happy here and would return if in the area and corridor. WiFi and cellular good.

We decided to take a road we had not taken before heading from CA back to Washington since it is the only one we haven’t used and always nice to see new things. Highway 3 from Weaverville, CA to Yreka, CA (in the Trinity Alps). Caution: signs advise no semi’s or cars towing trailers, and it was scary. We have a F150 towing a 27’ Airstream.

Anyway, we came to Etna, and sure enough there is that Shell Station and RV Park behind. It looked nice, not many spots taken on Sunday, 4/28/2024 so we paid ($63 with pull thru and FHU). Level spots, nicely taken care of place, quiet. Elevation is about 2,900 ft so cooler than Redding or Ashland.

The thing is, this is off the beaten path and not on a route to some place unless one wants the adventure of what lies on Hwy 3. Southbound is likely scarier than northbound because of braking long and hard with steep drops on that side.
