We stayed here on the Friday night of Labor Day weekend. We had no reservations anywhere, and most of the campgrounds were already full or required minimum stays of 2+ nights. We simply wanted to boondock for 1 night in our teardrop trailer. So we took a chance that we could get a site here, while wondering whether it might be a party spot for the locals. Easy to find using the info provided on the official website. The camp area had five fire rings. Only one site was occupied by a Class B van when we arrived at 6pm. Three of the sites were fairly level, while the other two were more hilly, better suited for tent camping. Being forewarned by another review, we used repellant and had no issues with bugs or ticks. No dumpsters, no water, no toilet, so be prepared. Quiet, good stargazing despite the bright moon!

We stayed here one night during the week. We were the only ones at the site. Only one other car drove through near sunset, but didn't stay. Pit toilets very clean and well-stacked with TP. Having read all the reviews, I was still surprised by how close ithe site was to the highway and cell towers. But it made for great phone reception! Also, the highway noise after sunset did not bother us. The OHV trails made for some decent hiking.

Unless you are fortunate enough to get one of the sites right on the beachfront where the ocean waves will drown out the traffic noise, it's like being in a wooded highway pullout. That said, the beach was great. The park does offer flush toilets and a small number of showers. While not anything extraordinary, the restrooms were clean. I would go back for the day use area, but not to camp w/I a reserved site on beachfront.

A beautiful area with many accessible trails through the giant redwoods. Our main issue was that many of the sites, including the one we were assigned, were angled the wrong way for backing in a trailer. Fortunately for us, we only had a small teardrop. Still, it took far longer than it should have to manuever into our spot. The couple who came in behind us were not so lucky. While their rig wasn't particularly long, there was not enough space for them to make the turn into their reserved site. At least they were allowed to park overnight in an overflow lot.
