Read Carrie’s post about how to get here. The road in must have been recently graded. We didn’t encounter any large rocks or ruts. It is narrow and you will rub some brush.

Long drive down a two track, un-maintained dirt path. This area was once a state park but now is over grown. Do not attempt to get here if it has rained or will rain. Google maps tried to take me on county rd 2 through the state park. This road no longer exists. I made to the campground in a two wheel drive 1/2 ton truck pulling a 7x14 trailer. The road was dry is the only reason I made it. The good thing is total seclusion. And I had good cell reception.

Parking area is large enough for several vehicles. There is one picnic table. The area is in a bit of disrepair with plenty of trash left around. It is close to the highway, so lots of road noise. I had my ATV and had a great time riding. It was beautiful. Lots of geocaching locations within the dunes.

$15.00 with water and electric. $5.00 without. Very nicely maintained with level parking spots. Half pull through and half back in. We stayed in August and had trouble with mosquitoes. There is a wet land area right behind the parking spots. Easy access for all sizes and has dump station. No showers.

Camped here In Aug 2018. Mosquitoes were very thick and aggressive. Wetlands right next to parking area. The area is very well kept and the spots were large and level. 20,30,and 50 amp at each site and water. You can tent camp in the grass or on one of the jettis for $5.

This campground is just like all the previous reviews. It was so quiet after 10pm that you could here campers snoring. The gate is locked at 10pm so no one is driving around.

There was 5” of snow on the ground and more coming. The campground had been plowed and half a dozen of the sites also. Water was off but still had electricity.

For the price we paid I would expect someone to clean the bathrooms. There was trash in our site when we arrived and screaming kids running everywhere unsupervised. The cave trails were littered with trash and and new trails were made by people walking where they want. Iowa DNR needs to step up their game here.

Actually called the Old Mill camp. This site is not free. $5 a night. $7 a night with electric. They have 50 and 30 amp service at 6 sites. Pit toilet and no water. Easy access for any size vehicle. No pull thru sights. Google maps will try to get you here by crossing the old bridge. The city has closed the bridge to vehicles. It is fairly easy to find the entrances road by looking at a map.

This is off road sand paradise. Open sand dunes and in the trees trails. This is why people come here. $10 a day riding fee which is not included with camp price.
