We actually stayed here in September 2019 (a little slow on the posting, but since there are no other reviews I thought we should share ours). We used this spot a a jumping-off point to backpack in to the Wheeler Geologic Area, so parked our truck and pop-up trailer, spent two nights in the backcountry, then returned to Hanson's Mill and spent the night before moving on.

The road to this point is good dirt, and there's space for any size RV/camper as well as tents. Beyond this point is serious 4WD road, so there are a number of trucks with ATV trailers parked here, though we saw very few people and there was just one other couple in a tent who spent the night. It's mostly a parking lot with an outhouse, but there are two sites on either side of the outhouse with picnic tables and fire rings. We chose to set up a little farther away on the edge of the traveled area. It was very quiet and the sunset was beautiful.

I don't remember if we even tried to get cell service.

We pulled in here on a mid-October Friday, and searched to find a "normal" dispersed site. After passing the turn-off to the Lone Mesa group site, there were several VERY large open areas with many, many, many big RV's, LOTS of people, and ATV's. We went a good way down Dubinky Well Road, which got worse the farther we went, so we backtracked and ended up on the edge of an RV "city" (probably 4-5 circles of 3-5 large camping units each). We were away during the days and tolerated the crowds when we came back as there didn't seem to be too many other camping options close to Canyonlands Island in the Sky District.

That said, the stars were incredible and the sunsets against the rocks were beautiful. October weather is delightful and makes it a very busy time in this area, so that explains the crowds.

These large areas are huge and if you don't mind a little "bumpy" in your drive, you can get any size RV in there, and there were tents along the edge as well as in some of the sites down the road.

We had weak coverage for both AT&T and T-Mobile.

There is a threaded water spigot at the lower level parking lot at Lyons Park. It's on the north side of the intersection of 128 and 191. There's a sign that says no trailer/camper parking on the lower level, but you can go down there to fill your water tank.

This is a beautiful area with nicely spread out dispersed sites. There's an outhouse on the road at the Hamburger Rock campground (BLM) as well as another one further down the road. We were here in mid-October which is a busy time as the weather is just about perfect. We had a couple of nights with an ATV down and back between 2am and 3am (to the outhouse maybe?), but then Friday night came and it got very busy with ATVs and LOTS of people.

This is just outside the Needles District of Canyonlands NP, so a very good option if you will be there (and Newspaper Rock is an interesting stop on your way in or out). There's a private campground just outside the park entrance (Needles Outpost) with a small store that sells ice and a few groceries, and there is water available in the park at both the visitor center and the campground.

The road in is dirt - a little bumpy but accessible by any car and the size of the sites varies quite a bit. We were impressed by how clean the area was - far better than many dispersed sites we frequent in Northern Colorado.

We were traveling through and needed a place to set up and sleep for the night. It was perfect for that. There were two others camped there that night and a couple of ATV-ers who left the area before dinner time. I wouldn't want to spend much time here, but it's a great stopover spot, and we had good reception for both AT&T and T-Mobile. Very close to Montrose, but far enough away and up higher so it felt pretty remote and was very quiet.

As others have said, it's a parking lot with the spaced divided by long metal "tubes". Because of the angle of the parking spaces, it's easier to go left at the outhouse and enter in a clockwise direction if you're long - basically go the "wrong way".

We've stayed here multiple times when it's too cold to be in the Colorado and Wyoming high country. In the spring, it's the place to enjoy birds as there are many (and many birders as well), though it tends to fill quickly on the weekends (we never make reservations). It can be very hot here in the summer.

We camp in a pop-up and found the vault toilets to be clean an almost odorless. They do have water on in the summer, but was off when we were there in mid-October (hence the $10 fee instead of the usual $13). You can hear the highway from the campground, but it's not bad. The sites are nicely spaced apart with some in full sun and some well-shaded.

Other options in the area are a bird-viewing drive (they usually have brochures telling you where to go and what to look for at various spots) and for a little bit of a drive to the east, you can hike out to the Pawnee Buttes.

The small town of Briggsdale is just across the highway and has a small general store with limited hours (based on a prior visit).

We have stayed here several times on our travels from Colorado to California (most recently July 2016, but I've just found this site, hence the delay). The sites are nice, bathrooms are clean and the rock formations afford a nice, easy, and interesting after-dinner hiking option after a long day on the road. Though it's only about a mile from the interstate, it feels like it's much further.

We needed a place to stop between Colorado and California and this was in the right place. It's about 6 miles from I-15 on a paved (but winding) road (Utah 153). The campground is right across the river from the road, but there's very little traffic so noise wasn't a problem. We pulled in at about 6:30pm on a Saturday night and got the last site. The host was pleasant and helpful and the bathrooms (flush toilets and running water) were very clean. There were water spigots every 2-3 sites.

We were just passing through and needed a place to tent camp on a Friday night in October. It was fairly full, but there was still space at about dusk. There's a separate tent area near the covered group picnic area (great for dinner in the rain). The tent area has vault toilets (updated and clean) and the RV area is a short walk away with flush toilets and showers. Everything was clean and the hosts were pleasant and helpful. We paid $10 for a tent site - the RV sites are likely more.

We tent camped here one night. It is a large campground with sites pretty close together. The road through the campground is in need of some repairs and is very narrow. I think it would be a challenge to get through much of the campground with a very large unit, and the spurs were not very long. There's one bathroom/shower house in the middle of the campground, so it could be a hike depending on your site; it was functional, but old.

Our camping fee was based on being a non-resident of the county and discounted for being off-season (mid-October). The ranger in the office there was very pleasant to work with.

The lake is beautiful and would have been a delightful place to kayak or canoe. It's just outside the quaint little town of Jim Thorpe.

We needed a place to stop on a road trip and this was in the right place for the right price. We heeded others' advice and set up our tent (on a VERY small, but flat, tent pad) in a site near the rim. Though this is very close to I-15, we could barely hear any traffic and the view of the gorge is beautiful. It is very hot here in the summer (early September), though we did have a little breeze. The bathrooms were adequately clean, with flush toilets, running water and A/C! Not a bad deal for $8.00.
