We actually stayed here in September 2019 (a little slow on the posting, but since there are no other reviews I thought we should share ours). We used this spot a a jumping-off point to backpack in to the Wheeler Geologic Area, so parked our truck and pop-up trailer, spent two nights in the backcountry, then returned to Hanson's Mill and spent the night before moving on.
The road to this point is good dirt, and there's space for any size RV/camper as well as tents. Beyond this point is serious 4WD road, so there are a number of trucks with ATV trailers parked here, though we saw very few people and there was just one other couple in a tent who spent the night. It's mostly a parking lot with an outhouse, but there are two sites on either side of the outhouse with picnic tables and fire rings. We chose to set up a little farther away on the edge of the traveled area. It was very quiet and the sunset was beautiful.
I don't remember if we even tried to get cell service.
