This has to be Florida Water Management Districts' finest. This big open field is just a short, well improved caliche or crushed limestone road in from the highway with roads around 3 sides providing great access and lots of elbow room when we stayed. This location provided us the perfect access we needed for visiting friends in Oxford and would also be for The Villages. Our only regret was that we didn't have time to just hang out and chill. Stayed 2/15 & 2/16/20.

This parking area belongs to the Riverside Cafe. There is ample room for more than one RV and 2 entrances that make it big rig friendly. The setting on the shore of the St. Marks river is serene, the river here is a no wake zone so boat motor noise is minimal. The location is almost right across the street from the southern end of the 16 mile Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State trail, a paved, sweet rail trail for runners, walkers & bikers.
This is also within walking distance of the historic San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park at the confluence of the St. Marks and Wakulla Rivers.
You might hear some music from the Riverside Cafe at night.
During our first trip to Florida, this was one of the most memorable places we stayed & ended up here due to another targeted location getting too much rain to access with our big rig. We actually returned to park here for awhile during an afternoon just to enjoy the setting on our return trip through the area.
The parking area is dirt and grass with a few picnic tables.
Unknown if tenting is permitted.

This was a stop just to get fresh water and dump waste with the benefit of shore power on a hot afternoon.
If all you need is the fresh water and dump station, recommend the BLM Warren Bridge campground close by to the west where you'll get much further away from the highway in level pull through sites for $10.

The asphalt regrinds site pad was so unlevel the front wheels were off the ground by the time we got leveled.
2 pluses were the cold temperature of the fresh water and the fact that we were permitted to park our rig in the large truck parking lot east of the store while we hiked past the Green River Lakes the following day.

Thank you Campendium!
Incredible spread of forest sites that are easily envisioned as full up with heat escaping Phoenix folks during summer holidays. Easy pickings for us on Monday night in early May. Don’t want to get caught in here when it rains!! Plenty of evidence of the adventures when it does.

The 2.2 mi. road in is entirely a good road, for cars, trucks, maybe trailers of nearly any size. Due to light washboard, NOT for big rigs. Some photos that have been posted make the sites appear much closer to the high power line than they are. This review appeared to be necessary due to lack of any other. We decided to try this site instead of Joshua Tree South due to those reviews about issues with sand & getting stuck. Proximity to JT National Park was not an issue as we’re on the way there & have reservations.
No one else here except the U.S. Border Patrol.

This is a no cost SW Florida Water Management District property that requires reservations and is behind a locked gate. It lies on the north edge of a large parcel of land that is the preserve on which we enjoyed long bike rides.
I am guessing it would host 10-12 camping units without crowding. This is controlled by the WMD. There was one portable toilet. I saw non-potable water but no potable water. This is just comfortable grass and weed ground cover under sprawling trees. Both full sun and shaded parking is available. Don't park in the SE corner where we first set up until told to move by a Water District employee who claimed that we were blocking the road to the south into the preserve. Make sure you've got the right combo for the lock (provided in your email confirmation) and then be prepared to just work at it. We tried some WD-40 on it as we left to try to make it easier for us to get out and the next guy to get in. Close to a Walmart and other services. Stayed here 2/18/20.

Over nighted while passing through. Found great wide spot at the first road split complete with small fire spits that we didn't use. Good input from other reviews that helped to find turn off driving west. If headed north up the San Luis valley to Saguache, easy to cross over highway 160 and use N CR 5W to access West CR 5N to get back to 285 north of Monte Vista. Nice view of the valley and Sangre de Cristo range.
There is a posting of interesting history at the end of the road down the left fork at this junction along with wagon tracks worn in the rock as testimony to the past.

1. Based on other reviews not read until later, it must be said that the showers are HOT and not push button. In fact, new faucets and shower handles were installed the day before we left.
2. No site available on arrival. Want others who may experience same & are OK with dispersed to know of BLM just down the hill from the park. At the base of short hill climb to the park on the right side of road is a large borrow bit where dirt was excavated. Entrances to access roads are marked with closure signage for recreational shooting. Lots of space. This did not show up on my BLM lands app.
Possibly due to weather we experienced moderate turnover in the park so checking back if first full may pay dividends.
3. Very worthwhile tour of the Oliver Lee Ranch House by volunteer camp host.

We found that as close as RVs are parked to each other that the place is surprisingly quiet.
It was a big plus for us even in an RV to have the bathrooms and kitchen sink washing station. We think the tenting area should be favored with better amenities. Some tenting sites are a looong ways from a vehicle parking. Verizon was on again, off again. The campground wakes up early as many are hitting the trails, especially to Guadalupe Peak, but also goes to bed early. Our opinion is that it was an indictment and bad advertising that the 45' Tiffin Allegro owner couldn't wait until 8 a.m. to start the generator.

This is a somewhat primitive park that is still recovering from hurricane damage. Most sites are sand, some are grass and we saw one that is concrete. When we made reservations, we were aware that we made them for 1 night in each of 2 different sites. Once we got there, we saw that the sites were right next to each other and were totally identical. After the first night we complied with the rules to re-register by 10 a.m. the next day. At that time we asked if we couldn't stay in the site we were in & were denied. The site we were to occupy for the 2nd night was not occupied but we were not permitted to move into it because the ranger had not reported to the registration office that it was empty. The weather turned and we ended up having to relocate after the sand had turned into mud.
We think it would be appropriate, no, necessary for the park to stipulate to the trash collection company hours that are acceptable for them to be slamming dumpsters that are not during the quiet time hours that campers have to comply with. 6:30 a.m. is NOT acceptable.
There is a large parking area on the way to the campground and boat ramp that made loading and unloading a car dolly a breeze.
This is a nice enough campground but there are some significant administrative issues that need attention.
