We decided to camp here after our day trip to Providence Canyon in GA. The campground is huge with many offered amenities. Our site was in Clarks Loop. Easy access to the water for boaters and bathrooms/showers close by. We saw a small gator and good sized snake by the water while exploring, but that is expected for the area. We didn't do much exploring besides by the water and our site. We would stay again and check out more of the parks offerings.

We only stayed one night as a stop over. We stayed in a primitive "non-preferred spot". They have sites on the water that are a few dollars more. You can tell the preferred sites by the yellow circle your number is on. We were the only ones in the Kingsnake primitive area. It may have been because of covid or because we were expected for rain. There was a shared water pump and bathrooms. The bathrooms by us were in poor condition but ones by the rv's were better. It looked as though the area didnt get much use. There was trash along the road. It was pretty windy so the lake did not look very desirable to swim since it was cloudy and choppy, but I could see on a nice day it would be fun.
One other review mentioned to look out for ticks. Both my husband and I ended up with a small one on us, so make sure you are checking.

We decided to try the primitive camping. Our site was is only about a two minute or less (475ft) walk from the car. Signs are a little confusing when you are trying to find your site but campers around are very friendly and pointed us in the right direction. The sites further from parking had paths so they didn't have to walk the distance listed on the website.
We walked from our campsite to the West Rim Loop trail, through the West campground to the Waterfalls trail. It was a great hike with many things to see. The stairs to both waterfalls can be strenuous, but there are a lot of stopping spots for breaks. The waterfalls were worth the hike!
We stayed 2 nights and would have stayed one more if we weren't on a time crunch.

We stopped for the night on our way back to FL. It is a nice wooded area just outside the large city of Memphis. Our site (10) was set off downhill from the rest of the sites which was nice. Only downfall for some may be the large decline from the parking spot to the picnic table. It didn't bother us but could be an issue for some. The area to put your tent was huge, one of the bigger ones in the campground. Our main concern was the May flies that were pretty non-stop until the sun went down. The bathroom had free shower and toilets. We didn't do much exploring since it was a quick stop, but would go back again.

Arrived on a Sunday mid-morning. About 4 sites occupied. Picked site #7 across from fisherman trail to river and bathroom. A few cars coming and going to the dropoff area to put their canoes/kayaks in the river. It's about a 5 min walk to follow the trailhead to get down to water. Sites have picnic table, fire ring with grilling grates and a wooden structure to hang water bag/others items to. All sites nice and shady. If you have solar you will need to put it closer to the road for sun. Easy to get to. Overall would stay again.
