At first glance you could think that this park may be lacking in privacy considering all of the amenities. We found the exact opposite to be true during our stay from Monday, October 31st-Thursday, November 3rd. The first thing we noticed was how far apart the sites are, and they offer plenty of privacy. When we arrived on Monday there were two other couples staying on property and we saw them in passing but didn't hear a thing. The next day we saw one other camper at the lake while we were fishing & he left the next morning. Our last night at The Range found us camping alone ... It was a lot like boondocking with full hookups. We saw no one and the only thing we could hear were the coyotes in the distance at night.

I imagine that this property is hopping during the weekends and in season, but we found that it is also very peaceful and offers a remote feeling even when other camper are nearby.

The website is spot on when it comes to describing this park ... No embellishments. It's genuinely wonderful.

Mountain View is, hands down, the best campground we’ve ever visited. It has all of the essentials: Full hookups, fast wifi, laundry, ice, a small store, and the North Georgia mountains and surrounding areas of North Carolina are lovely. But it’s the owners, Louie and his wife; PJ, who make this place live and breathe. They cultivate a relational atmosphere where people come together and share their lives during their stay. Nights around the fire pit sharing a glass of wine and talking with other campers, or listening to a guest play guitar at the Music Barn while kids play tag in the background and adults chill out in Adirondack chairs in the shadow of the mountains.

Our second to last day in Hiawassee I broke my leg during a mountain bike race. It was ugly, and we needed to head home so that I could have surgery. I called PJ on the way back from the hospital to tell her what happened and to free up our final night for someone else. When we got to the camp Louie and PJ met our car at the entrance and offered us a room in their home for the night. We said we’d be ok in our RV, and Louie helped my husband carry me inside. PJ offered to bring us dinner, ice, drinks … Anything we needed. The next morning people arrived to help my husband hook everything up and get things organized. This … This is the heartbeat that is Mountain View. It’s everything you’d except from a top rated camp, but you also get a view of humanity at its best!

This is quiet, low key park with a great location not far from restaurants, shopping and Fort Benning.

Overall, my husband and I didn't have any major issues. The electric source caused our power meter to throw an error code for reverse polarity on the 30 amp feed, so we used an adaptor and hooked up to the 50 amp. Also, the water connection sprayed and we couldn't tighten it enough to stop the leaking. These are the little things this park could attend to & would enhance the overall experience.

There are many long term residents and the rig next to us had a lot of items out around his site so it looked a lot like his personal yard ... It wasn't necessarily tidy but it also wasn't offensive, and our neighbor was quiet. And that's the main thing this park has going for it ... It's unbelievably quiet and the other guests were respectful. We'd definitely stay here again.

Fantastic location in close proximity to Savannah. The RV sites are basic FHU on grass, but the farm is stunning!

I truly appreciated the staff. They do a wonderful job during check in and it’s clear they attend to the cleanliness of the property. My only negative is that we felt the price was a bit high for off season accommodations & the condition of our site showed general wear and tear. The blacktop on our pull through was very cracked & uneven, the picnic bench was worn and the surrounding area was neither fully grass or fully pebbles. It was a dated site for $51.50 per night & that included a 10% Dyrt Pro discount.

We stayed at Sun Outdoors in St. Augustine for five days at the beginning of September. This park is clean, quiet, nice amenities, and has decent wifi. We stayed in the Oasis section and the sites are upgraded a bit with pavers rather than a gravel pad. Our only complaint is that the drainage at our site, #138, wasn't great. The entrance to our site always had standing water. This didn't seem to be a common issue across the park, but we did see several other sites that were experiencing the same large puddling problems.

Powder Horn is the best place we’ve ever stayed. Yes, it’s large. Yes, there are people who live there for months at a time, but this park is crazy clean … roads & restrooms. It reminded me of Disney in the way we never saw trash on the ground. They have quiet hours, large pools, activities for the family, movie nights, etc. They also have a shuttle to the beach. Only small downside was that our site backed up to the road so there was some road noise, but the space on that site made it worth it.

The 5 star reviews are perplexing. We're not new to RVing and have stayed in plenty of lovely mom & pop parks. This is a family owned campground, but it is basically a parking lot with hookups for people who live there long term. Our site was on the side of a road about 50 yards away from the Dump Station. It was referred to as a premium, pull through rather than what it is ... a pull to the side of the road. There was no grass or picnic table. I'll post pictures that show the condition of our site and how close the spots are to one another. The YouTube video of this park is very deceiving. The grassy areas beside and between the lakes can only be accessed by walking though other camper's sites.
** Use caution navigating the park because the roads at the back have no way to turn around if you get back there.

True story. We stopped at Molly Stark state park in Vermont on the way home after vacationing in Maine. The sign coming into the park said no vacancy. When we got to the parking area I went up to the office counter and said, “We’re just stopping through. My husband is going to ride his bike for a bit and we’ll eat lunch, but we’re not staying.” The guy working said, “You still need to pay something.” I said, “Of course. No problem.” He said $4, I paid & started to walk away. The woman working said, “We have very nice clean bathrooms if you need them.” Which I thought was nice. My husband rode for about 45 minutes and then we walked to the bathhouse for him to take a quick shower. He says, “Do you have 50 cents? It’s 10 minutes for fifty cents.” While he’s showering I’m walking around with our dog. She poos and now my husband is walking towards me with a bag to pick it up because his 50 cent shower is finished. Before we can pick up after our dog the office worker comes towards me quickly and says, “Here’s a poo bag. Now you’ve at least gotten your 4 dollars worth.” I said, “Excuse me?” And he says, “You tried to get out of paying in the first place and now you’re using our showers. You said you were just eating lunch and your husband riding his bike.” My husband says, “I paid fifty cents for that shower. I didn’t steal it.” The guy says, “You said you were just stopping in.” I say, “Do you want more money?” And he says he wants another 4 bucks. I walk up to the counter to pay and say, “I try to assume the best of people. I want you to know that I wasn’t trying to get out of paying. I saw the no vacancy sign and didn’t want you to think we were trying to stay the night.” He said that he’s tired of people with the nicest stuff … a multi thousand dollar bike and a nice RV trying to get something for nothing.” I reminded him that he said admission was 4 dollars and his coworker offered the bathrooms. He said, “So you don’t think you got 8 dollars worth of time in the park?” I told him, no, that we’d been there for an hour and 20 minutes and he’d told me admission was $4, but if the extra money would make things right for him then he could have it. I just didn’t appreciate him thinking I was trying to talk my way out of paying park entry, and I didn’t appreciate him assuming I had a character flaw. He told me again that it was rich people who tried to get out of paying, he was jaded & to keep my 4 dollars. What an odd experience.
