We stayed for three nights (mid-July) and really enjoyed our stay. The road to the park is a little rough - single lane at some places, but luckily we only met one small car leaving on the last day.

Our campsite was wonderful - backed right up to the creek. Plenty of room in the site, although the way the campsite is situated, our neighbors were right off one side of the trailer (the hook-up side), and it felt too close when we were in the trailer, but not unbearable. The creek helped divert noise! Our site had 30 amp power, water and sewer. Check-in was quick and easy.

Nice playground in the park, and the bathhouse was small, but clean and adequate.

The campground is close to Gorges State Park and Sylva, so you’re not too far away from civilization and incredible mountain experiences and hikes. (We can highly recommend the Rainbow Falls trail!)

Really nice park - we will definitely stay again when we’re in the area!

We’ve camped in several campgrounds around this area over the past couple of months and this one is definitely our favorite - we will be returning. We stayed in site 31 and had no neighbors for our three mid-week night stay. The staff is wonderful. They admonish you to NOT walk through other people’s sites when you check in; I’m sure this could be an issue for those staying right on the creek. The park was really quiet, and the facilities were clean.

Contrary to other campgrounds we’ve stayed in, the road going into the campground is wide and comfortable driving (FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE WEBSITE as others have said). The Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky National Park are within minutes driving. There are some really good restaurants in Cherokee.

Staff volunteered to drive us to our site, and then actually backed us in - which was appreciated. They have one large trash receptacle that was just across from our site, but they pick up garbage from all sites at 10, 2 and 8 - which is really convenient.

There are some beautiful sites right on the river - as someone else said, talk to staff when you call to make your reservation so they know what’s important to you, when choosing your site. Highly recommend!

The campground staff helped us get to our campsite and backed in - can’t say enough about how wonderful all the staff were. We stayed for two of the three nights we were supposed to stay (due to unexpected illness in the family) and enjoyed our stay. The road was a little rough on the way into the campground off the Blue Ridge Parkway, but relatively easy to navigate. The site was spacious, although not very private - we were on a slope and it felt like we were looking into the down-slope neighbor’s site and that the people above us were looking down on us. Our spot was fine if you weren’t looking for a lot of privacy, and it was a beautiful area. The hookups were all easy to access, and the bathrooms were very clean and nearby. It felt like a family-oriented campground, and the store is well provisioned. Cell phone coverage not good, as mentioned by others. We were able to use the Wifi to access tests and messages, however.

We had a great time exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway and doing some light hiking in the area. Nights were nice and quiet.

We stayed in two different sites during our visit - a serviced (water/electrical) the first night and a non-serviced site the next three nights. Both sites were easy to get our little Casita into. Both sites were very private and nicely shaded. There are many trails throughout the park, and it was a great place to explore the beautiful Northern Cascades from.

The restroom facilities were well maintained, and it may be one of the best WA State parks we’ve stayed in so far. It’s a newer park - built in 1997. There is a dump station on site.

It is expensive to stay in a State park here in WA, but we have found the amenities sometimes worth it. The serviced site was $45 per night and the non-serviced site was $32 per night. There is an additional $8 on-line booking fee, on top of the nightly charges.

Highly recommend, and we will stay there again!

Rates are great, park is well maintained and sites are relatively large and private. We had water/electric at our site, but dumping was easy because there are two dump stations at the park.

Lots of kids riding bikes and families with dogs. The river’s close, and the park has a boat launch and nice day-use play area for the kids.

This was our second time at the park - we’ll definitely be back.

We had a pull-through spot each trip with our little 17’ Casita, but there were plenty of big rigs with what looked like plenty of space.

This park is relatively close to Mount Rainier, Adams, and St. Helens. There are so many beautiful places to visit nearby if you enjoy nature!

The nearest grocery store (and gas) is in Morton, which is about 9.5 miles from the park.

In spite of March rain, lightening, thunder, wind and cold, we had a great first camping trip of the year staying at Nehalem our first two nights out. The park is really nicely laid out, as others have said, and was easy to get into. It felt relatively private. Our only complaint was that we had to use the broom dustpan and a bucket to scoop water out of the driveway so that we weren’t standing in 2 inches of water to hook up after a big rainstorm. Apparently it’s an issue with several spots, although ours (B36) was the only one we saw with the issue.

The beach is a nice walk from the park through the dunes, and beautiful. Lots of other areas to explore outside the park.

The recycling/garbage stations were easy to access, along with the dump station.

Not a lot of kids in this park, but it was during the week that we were staying. I think kids would enjoy this park.

We would stay again!

Fort Stevens is one of the biggest parks in the nation, and we barely saw a small part of it during our two-night stay. We were able to check-in early (print your pre-check-in vehicle tag they’ll email to you a couple of days before your stay and then you don’t have to stop at the check-in).

The sites were not extremely private, if that’s what you’re looking for, but we spent little time at the camp site. There’s so much to see and do at the park. The beaches are beautiful. The biking paths (a lot of them paved) are great for kids, bikers and walkers. We easily walked 6.5 miles on one day, just exploring.

Camping on the Oregon Coast in March was cold - and windy - and rainy, but we went prepared.

We highly recommend this park. The City of Astoria is nearby and fun to explore, also. If you haven’t been to WA State, it’s just across the bridge!

We will be back - next time for a longer period of time so we can explore more of the park.
