Management was very accommodating and very quickly took care of problem at check in. Recently updated facilities, great playgrounds, very kid friendly. Some campsites have less privacy due to proximity to other sounds which caused me to rate lower for noise but it does quiet down around 10pm-8am with no issues. We will be back.

Great place with full hookups and plenty of space between sites. The staff was super friendly and even helped us with backing in to the site - so it was quick and easy!
The bathrooms have been recently remodeled and were spotless. There is a fishing lake with a waterfall, basketball, volleyball courts. There are at least 4 trails some with waterfalls on them in the campground. It was also nice and quiet in the evenings and the everyone we met were friendly.
We will be back again!

This was a really nice campground. There were a few playgrounds spread throughout for kids. The bathrooms were really clean and the staff was really friendly. The camp store was closed kinda early and there are no other stores near by so make sure you have what you need!
No cell service but they do have WiFi with a booster at the bathhouse. We sometimes had a good signal and other times it was too slow to load anything.

Directly off the Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 324.8. Don't let the intial gravel road with steep grade discourage you the hairpin curves are very managable. Saw all sizes of RV's on the grounds that had negotiated the same road. Our site was fairly level but I did have to use leveling blocks under a wheel. First time with full hookups a real luxury on check out day. Site spacing was where the State Park feel was most evident. They have done a good job leaving enough trees to provide ample shade and a sense of privacy. Escort to our site wasn't the most chatty fellow and even though I didn't need help backing in I didn't feel he was about to offer. They have a man made lake on property with swimming beach but the water looked somewhat suspect. That for us wasn't a negative as temps at that altitude even in early August were so very comfortable. Several hiking trails on property but they have a lot of competition being on the BRP. Very close to Linville Falls thirty minutes from Grandfather Mtn. Something we loved and less than 10 minutes away was Altapass apple orchard. They hand you a bag and tell you which varieties are in season $5.00 for all you can fit in the bag. One knock on the campground they rent golf carts which wouldn't bother me if they were electric. Somewhat noisy buggies. We looked at some other private campgrounds in the area for future none compared to the beauty of Bear Den. WiFi only available at office and near B area bathhouse.

Outstanding location just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. When we first arrived at the entry road we were not sure it was the correct place. Access off the Parkway at mile marker 324.8 the sign is quite small, probably a Parkway rule. Once we arrived at the campground we found it very well kept, nice sites, friendly staff and properly covid prepared.

We loved this campground it has a lot of amenities. There are a few nice hikes from the campground, the bathrooms are clean and have washer and dryer. Our site was even although very small. If you can don’t choose any of the pull through sites most are smaller and less private than the back in ones. The campground is 1 hour from mt. Mitchell and about 40 mins from Grandfather mtn and Linville falls. They have wifi available but it’s not worth your time.

We had a great time exploring the area including Penland School of Crafts and Spruce Pine. It would have been better to visit in May since so many shops were closed and in winter mode. That said this was a great campground with a friendly and helpful staff. It is imperative that you adhere to their check in procedures. The road in is very narrow and difficult if not impossible for two RV’s to pass side by side. Check out before 11 am and check in only after 3 pm.

This is a well developed and maintained campground with many amenities. There are several loop trails that are challenging and rewarding and include views and waterfalls. The site itself was perfect for our 28' TT and truck with full hookups. However they have no cable and the wi-fi is satellite based and erratic at best and mostly unusable, although we were very close to an antenna. We had no luck with one bar with Verizon but no data on our phones or our Jetpack hotspot. The Cricket (AT&T) hotspot worked well as did a phone that uses the AT&T system.
Staff is very pleasant and helpful. This campground is heavily forested and you really feel like you are in the forest rather than being wide open. Sites have decent spacing although, as noted by a prior reviewer, the pull-through sites are not very well separated and have no privacy from adjacent sites.
Our site was on the main road in the park and there was a continual flow of traffic. Side roads probably were quieter. It's also notable that there are many private cabins close by and some of the traffic may be people accessing those private cabins.

The campground staff helped us get to our campsite and backed in - can’t say enough about how wonderful all the staff were. We stayed for two of the three nights we were supposed to stay (due to unexpected illness in the family) and enjoyed our stay. The road was a little rough on the way into the campground off the Blue Ridge Parkway, but relatively easy to navigate. The site was spacious, although not very private - we were on a slope and it felt like we were looking into the down-slope neighbor’s site and that the people above us were looking down on us. Our spot was fine if you weren’t looking for a lot of privacy, and it was a beautiful area. The hookups were all easy to access, and the bathrooms were very clean and nearby. It felt like a family-oriented campground, and the store is well provisioned. Cell phone coverage not good, as mentioned by others. We were able to use the Wifi to access tests and messages, however.
We had a great time exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway and doing some light hiking in the area. Nights were nice and quiet.

Great campground! Staff helped us back in and was very friendly. Had a campstore with supplies. Campground has a few hiking trails. Close to some great hiking, it is right off the blue ridge parkway! Very pretty area to stay! Family friendly and pet friendly! I recommend hawks bill mountain trail that is a 45 min drive away!
