We wanted to be in Port Townsend in late April, and it can be blustery. We are cozy in our room with a view. We’re right by the beach, and have walked into town a few times. This is a perfect combo of beach camping and the town’s galleries and other amenities. I’m in a Class B, space 325.

Kayak Point is the gem of Snohomish County parks. The campground and beach were full of families having fun. Some sites are more level than others. The picnic table may be up or down a hill, providing plenty of space for chairs and tents. The beach area has accessible picnic shelters next to the sandy beach. I understand the park will be closed next year for major upgrades. I can’t wait. I live nearby and use the day use area more than the campground.
