The compound is nice enough, definitely no frills. Cabins in the front and RV spots in the back, with easy access to a laundry room and showers. The owner really couldn't be nicer. We were there back in June 2017. Right on the Main Street in town, so it's not real scenic, but very convenient to "downtown" Darby, which was very nice. This place was a very nice respite from the dozens of churches and ammunition stores in Western Montana.

I suspect the range of experiences at this campground is wide, depending entirely upon where you get a campsite. The hook up sites near the store and the bathrooms were disappointing -- some are very close to each other and all are relatively dusty. Road noise filters in to most areas of the campground as well. There were, however, several sites down near the river which seemed really great. The river is beautiful, although you wouldn't know it's there from most of the campground due to what I assume is a flood control berm about 4 or 5 feet high. The campground store was poorly stocked and the bathrooms were somewhat dated, but acceptable. This is a City-owned campground which is managed by a concessionaire.

If you can't actually stay out on the sand, then Oceano Campground probably provides the best access. The southern portion of the campground for RVs and trailers is flat and largely soulless, but has a nice new bathroom facility. The northern portion for tens and small trailers has some much nicer sites -- but also some in the middle which are tightly packed and completely exposed to the sun. Facilities are very nice. It's an easy hike to the dunes or walk to the ATV rental places on Pier Avenue. It was surprisingly quiet at night given my overnight experiences out on the dunes, which are anything but quiet.

We stayed in the FF loop, which had electric hook ups and offered slightly more spread out sites. It's also closer to the Athabasca River and a great trail which leads into town (although it's pretty far). Elk herd hangs out in the campground and the meadows just to the north. The facilities were very nice. The entirety of the other major campground in town (just to the north of Wapiti and on the west side of the highway -- but its name escapes me at the moment) was closed for the 2019 summer season. From what I could tell, Wapiti is nicer than the other one.

I stayed during the summer of 2016 at the Gerstle Cove Group Campsite (which was actually $150, not $35). Best group campsite I've ever stayed at. You're removed from the rest of the campground and have your own dedicated facilities, and pretty much a private grove of trees and private path to the beach trails.

The asphalt overflow lot, as noted by a previous reviewer, is absolutely tremendous for the price. It lacks amenities, but the price for the view is unbeatable.

The campground itself, from what I could tell, is fine. Nothing special, but no major defects. Salt Point is a beautiful State Park, and there's not much civilization around, which of course is good or bad depending on your point of view.

Apparently under new ownership (I'm assuming that due to the name change), as of June 2019 the resort is known as "Boulder Mountain" and it has very nice amenities and very nice new cabins. The RV sites, as opposed to the cabins, are not very nice and new. Many of the hook up sites are right on top of each other in a giant paved parking lot. I think the management is transitioning from RV-centric to cabin-centric. There is a large hot tub and very nice bathrooms and showers in the poolhouse. The area was absolutely overwhelmed with mosquitoes when we were there. Not sure if that's a problem with the specific location or Revelstoke in general.

We opted out of our reservations at the RV Park (too cramped) and headed out to one of the non-generator loops in the campground proper. I'm glad we did. Sites are much more spread out, and there's plenty of shade. The Colter Bay village is not far away, and neither is the lake. I've seen other reviewers note that there's not much of a view from the campground (true), but a short walk down to the end of the campground loops brings you to the edge of Jackson Lake, where the views are absolutely stunning.

A local in Paonia heard I was looking for a place to camp in the area and recommended Big B's Delicious Orchards. After checking out there website it took me some time to determine if they even allowed camping. It's primarily a working orchard, restaurant and concert venue. But they do indeed allow both tent camping and dry camping for RV'ers. For a reasonable fee you can drive your RV to whatever area of the orchard you can safely reach. Watch out for irrigation culverts! Spending the night in the orchard was magic. Had a great time having some hard cider with the locals in the bar / outdoor patio area. Staff was great. A wonderful experience all around.

For what the staff lacks in professionalism they make up for with charm. The owners/operators, their relatives and their dogs appear to live right on site. There are four or five RV spots with hook ups that overlook the Valley. INCREDIBLE VIEWS. But there's no shade and no dividers between RV sites. Some of our party stayed in one of the tipis which surround a central patio area where breakfast is served. Very casual. Very cool. You can also pitch a tent for a fair price around the back of the property. It's probably not for everyone -- but it was definitely for me!

Easily bikeable into downtown Victoria, and with a little more effort you can walk it along the West Bay Walking Path (bikes not allowed). The sites are all right next to each other, but that's to be expected in a park that's surrounded by water and a marina in a downtown-adjacent area. The new common entertaining area was great -- nice couches, big tables, BBQs, TV, etc. The showers and laundry room were top notch. So was the service. I loved this place.
