So I came in first thing on a Friday morning with my runaway camper. The campground staff I worked with both over the phone and checked me was super friendly and nice. She told me I had a good spot right next to the bath house. That I did, right next to the bath house that appears to have a water leak under the building and right next to a security light. The spot i was give did not resemble even remotely a camping spot but rather fresh white rock with one power stand that was to prove power to the other 6 plus “sites” along that line of gravel. She even referred to where was as over flow guest parking and my reserved site was marked by orange cones. The staff person I could back in the trailer and park along side of camper and she even left 2 cones to block it so no one else would park there.

Later that night after seeing them pack more campers in, I finally crawled into the nice cool camper and then the power goes. I got outside and I see 3 other campsites all with flashlights trying to figure out what happened. Come to find out the last big RV they shoved in there also jumped on the same 15amp breaker. So we had to figure out their pole situation since 6+ sites were all hooked..

Day #2 come back from long day of beach and new campers in and nearly parked into my site. So i pulled my truck up side ways just like many other sites were doing to even get their tow vehicles parked. The owner was backing another trailer in and told me I need to move my truck into the tight space.. hot and tired from the day I wiggled it into the spot she asked. Took a nap came back out and owner comes back up and tells me now she wants me to move my truck back the way I had it because they cant park all their vehicles... so now a bit frustrated I take off for some food. I come back 20 or so mins later, its now after hours and I find a red ford truck backed up to my camper as if they were going to hitch up and go. No one to be found around. Noooo other parking spaces so I drive around. I run by the office in which 2 emergency numbers are posted. Neither scott of the other lady ever answer their phones. Left a vm @ main office which was never returned. Finally i sit in the main road and lady comes walking up to grab cell phone chargers out of the truck and starts to walk away. I yell at her and told her this was my site and I need to park here. Her reply was “ well they told me to park here this was overflow parking”???

Day#3 i make reservations at a hotel at Ft Walton and stop in office. Showed them them the pics and told them the story. They were sympathetic and said they would talk to the owner. That was Sunday morning, today is Weds and no response. I had booked through Thursday. Left a voicemail again today and no response. Not even an attempt at an apology... This is piss poorly run and they are more worrier about making money by stacking as many rvs in as they can then making a good experience

Very well maintained campground with newly paved roads and clearly marked sites. Bathhouses are in great shape as well. The sites are all shaded, however you are sandwiched in with everyone else, if you are just here for an overnight its fine, but aware you will not have much privacy. Seems a bit pricey for a state park @ $38/night and Michigan makes you purchase a passport to enter any state park so for out of staters its $9/day or a yearly pass of $33.

You are right close to Lake Michigan and the beach with amazing views and a lighthouse is just a quick drive away. I will warn you it is very tourist laden so that short drive could take 20 mins in traffic but worth the trip.

Friendly campground geared more towards seasonal campers but offers some daily camping. Larger sites and spread across 40 acres. Has a nice swimming pool and giant pavilion for activities. They have a very strong and supportive activities and events program for their guest.

Only take away is it can be dusty when its dry due to sand.

Offer a wide range of options for families and all varieties of campers ranging from tent camping to small cabins. Awesome views including beach front camping and a awesome view of Mackinac Bridge. This must be the cleanest bathrooms and shower house I have every seen!!!!! Fully supplied camping store with food and drinks/alcohol.

Only drawback for me is I stayed on the beach and with heavy rains this year the bugs were a bit overwhelming. Did not appear to be as bad the farther from the beach you went. Just something to consider that a screen tent may be needed if you want to sit outside, but that will be the case anywhere in the UP area. Perfect launch point to anything in the UP

The spaces are wide open and well maintained. There are a number of hiking/bike trails and even some MTB trails available. The county highways around the park are well maintained and nice to bike on with very low traffic and nice views of the lake. Lot of nice and new fishing docks in different spots around the lake as well!! The only 2 things I would list is that there is not a lot of full shade spots but there is enough trees where you are not in the sun all day. The showers supposedly have hot water and the sign says let run for 2 minutes for hot water. They are button controls and I pressed the button for 5 mins to get some luke warm water.

Other then that it was an overall good experience.

I have been here a couple of times and love the wide open and heavily shaded campsites. Well maintained a lot of activities for any outdoor enthusiast.

They appear to be always working on improvements and maintenance of the facilities and the sites. Fresh rock laid and restrooms clean and well maintained. Big spacious sites with natural vegetation giving your some privacy but not barrier back in a timber pocket for the bugs at night

A little pricey to get in, it was $9 for out of state to enter the park and then paid another $23/night. Overall very nice park with nice spacious sites, clean restrooms and lots of nice paved roads for parking. Only issue I see is a lot of the sites may be tight for larger rigs to back into. They do pack a lot of campers in so it can get loud. I was hear on a weekday and all the the park was mostly empty the few campers that were here were right on top of me.
