We were heading to Yellowstone and needed a one night stopover. We found this park to be friendly, very clean and very well located- you can walk to the grocery store.
It was 100 degrees out, so we needed the full hookups- everything worked great.
It was a perfect stop and we would definitely stay here again.

We chose this campground because of the reviews it got here on Campendium. The reviews are right-this campground is great. It is clean well-kept, spaced wonderfully, the lake is beautiful, it was everything we want in a campground.
The bugs at this campground were at a minimum which I was surprised about. Its mid July so I expected more mosquitos, flies and Yellowjackets.
The only negative for us was that there was really no shore fishing on this lake – you’re really need a boat of some kind.
We loved, loved, loved our time here at the Merrill campground. We will definitely be back!

I have read the previous reviews and want to say that Ainsworth was a lovely small park tucked away from the road with lots of greenery. It was a little confusing getting to the park initially because the road is still closed for repairs from the big Eagle Creek fire they had less than a year ago- but it should be opened very soon.
Unfortunately during our stay the hiking trails at the campground were all still closed due to the fire- but we saw volunteers working on them during our stay so hopefully they can open up soon. We totally understand that the Eagle Fire was devastating to the area and it will take some time to recover. The campground itself was not burned so it is still very lush and beautiful.
We stayed in A4 which was a great spot.(we have a 31 ft. 5'er) We feel that the A loop sites are quieter than the B loop sites if thats what you are looking for. There is only one row of sites in the A loop, but 2 rows in the B loop (more sites, more people, more noise.)
We spoke with the hosts and the rangers who were all very nice and friendly. You could hear the highway (minimally) and a train every once in a while but it did not ruin the experience for us. We wished we were staying longer as we enjoyed our time here. We will be back for sure!
We have Verizon and there was very spotty coverage. We could text but that was about it.

I should have really read the other reviews. This campground is in a great location (between Hood River and The Dalles), but oh my goodness our site was so noisy from highway noise it kept us up at night. We were in A6 which is perpendicular to the hwy which is up a small bank- but there are no mature trees to help deaden the sound. The big rigs would go by and our 5'er would shake. We didn't select our site- the Oregon State Campground Operator did! we had no idea or would have changed it. We had booked 5 days and it was a long 5 days. We walked around the campground and there are better sites (some with a view, some with train noise and all could hear the highway.)
I guess it would be OK for an overnighter, but 5 nights is a long time. We usually like to sit outside and play games in the evening- but it was so noisy that it wasn't enjoyable.
Like other reviewers have said- getting here is a challenge (it's weird driving through a rest stop to the entrance) and it would have been worth it if not for the noise issue. I cannot reiterate enough- the highway noise is BAD!
I spoke to a very sweet ranger on day 3 and she stated that I could have asked them if there was another site available and we may have been able to move (which is a huge hassle) and I said we noticed that all the non reserved sites are marked "open for one night only" and she said that is not always true. Ugh.
We did have great Verizon coverage so that was nice and we had a decent amount of TV channels come in on our antenna.
Regardless, we did not like our site and will not likely return to this campground unless desperate for an overnight stop.

We stayed at Lopez Lake in March 2018. We found it thru Campendium and Google. We booked a spot in the Blue Jay Loop which was nice and very quiet. I didn't like that I could not find a detailed camp site map for the campground- so it was a bit of a crap shoot. We got lucky and our site was great! When we arrived at 3 pm there was a family of deer right on the meadow in our loop. We saw them each day several times until the weekend and more campers came into the loop. This is a large campground but it is the off season so it wasn't too busy. The lake is very low which is sad. We found the restrooms and showers were old and did not feel clean at all. The store and restaurant at the marina were "ghost town" like as there weren't many people around. It also seemed dirty and run down. This Recreation Area also has a waterpark and a zip line/challenge course - when we were there these looked in dis-repair as well.
There is NO cell coverage at all at this park- so prepare to be off line during your stay here.
Hopefully in the high season more care is put into the facilities. All that said- we would probably stay again in the off season.

We agree with what the previous reviewers said. It's a nice, quiet park.
The family that runs the park are very friendly and helpful.
Amenities were all kept nicely. The grasses were green and well groomed, bathrooms and showers were spotless, laundry room very clean, very dog friendly, cute playground and community fire pit area and a cute little creek flows through the property. The hookups were all located at the back of the site- and for us and our 5'er that was almost an issue! We had recently bought an extension for our sewer hose and my hubby had packed a longer cord for the power (just in case) and had bought a longer hose for the water so thankfully we were able to hook everything up- but barely!
Verizon signal was 1 bar of 3G at best, but the free WiFi worked OK. The cable TV had only one channel (CBS). There seem to be a few permanent (or long term) campers in the park- but the people we had interactions with were very friendly.

The town of Republic was small but quaint with a handful of shops, a couple grocery stores and a handful of decent restaurants.
We were here mid August 2018 when there were many fires in the state and nearby, so it was very smoky. We didn't get the chance to go hiking or fishing which was our plan because the air quality was dangerous. I am sure the area would have been even more beautiful with clear skies! We will definitely stay here again!

We have driven through Lone Pine many times but had never stopped anywhere. This trip we needed an overnight stop on our way to Oregon. And after reading the reviews here we decided we would stay here at Boulder Creek. We had passed by many times but never realized how nice it was inside. We found it friendly, clean and overall very nice. They even have a big dog run you can use if you have your furry kids with you. We didn’t use any other amenities as it was just for the night but when we walked around the park to stretch our legs everything looked great.
We would definitely stay here again.

This is a Casino RV Park. That said, it is one of the nicest we have stayed in.
Casino's aren't my thing but we wanted to take a break from driving and this is a pretty nice, safe, clean and friendly spot. We stayed here once in March and now once in July.
The laundry room is clean, they have a nice dog run area, there are lovely grassed areas for each rig, and the restaurant in the casino is decent. The WiFi was good and the cable TV too.
It is not someplace I would stay for any length of time, but it is great for a stopover.
