We truly enjoyed our stay here. The weather was perfect. Sites are clear of trash. Bathrooms are clean and even have flushing toilets, soap and paper towels. Plenty of trash cans, water spigots and bathrooms available. Host is friendly and helpful. If you want a quiet site and aren’t in a big rig, go to the back of the campground. The front sites fill up with big rigs who occasionally run their generators. BLM has a gem in this campground! We will definitely return.

This is a great campground. We came here with our boys when they were younger, and now that they are grown, we camp as a couple. Things that have changed since we last visited are the fact reservations are required and a few walk up sites are available. There are positives to the campground, too! More care is given to the bathrooms, campsites are much nicer with a gravel area for tents and concrete parking area. ( not sure if this applies to all sites) and the overall way it’s run by camp hosts. We had terrible cell service (Verizon) and if you were lucky you might get a signal in the morning. Plenty of shade, a beautiful trail to walk around the lake, and an abundance of wildlife. Very nice place

Wow! We were truly impressed with this campground. Sites were cleaned prior to our arrival. Showers were amazing. You could have a full shower without the water cutting off in the middle. Warm water ( temps were in the 50s during the day, and 20s at night) and bathrooms were clean and warm, too. There is horseback riding, fishing, hiking, birdwatching, wildlife and kayaking. So much to do! The only negative is for pet owners. There are some nasty little burrs around 90% of the campsites. They stick to your pets fur and get in their feet. Just stay on trails and roads when walking your dogs. Other than that, we had a great stay and will be back!

We had a great time. Plenty of shade and trees. Our site was near the restrooms and water. We didn’t use the public restroom due to COVID, but I did see the host cleaning them routinely. ( we had our own Porta Potty.) Site was clean, no trash. Very quiet after dark. We will definitely return

Thanks to reviews on this app, we chose to stay here. Husband was section hiking the PCT (Onyx Summit to Big Bear City) so we wanted to be close to the trail, but away from crowds. We have a 5x8 Cargo Trailer Camper Conversion (Stumblesandfumbles on YouTube if you are interested) that we built ourselves so fitting into a campsite was no problem. I randomly picked the site ( based on availability) at Recreation.gov and it was perfect. A very quiet campground during the week. It did get busier on Friday night, but we were leaving Saturday morning, so majority of the time we were alone. Toilets were clean and always had TP, but it’s like sandpaper, so bring your own lol...water was close by, and the camp host was very friendly. The roads around the campground are very bumpy so take your time driving through. We were very pleased with our stay and will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

We were camping in our 5x8 cargo trailer camper so we didn’t need full hook ups, which is a blessing because there was only one site left with hook ups. The dry area had a few open spots, so we picked the closest one to the water. (Still a couple hundred yard walk) it is a flat walk to the beach, but a rocky climb down to the beach. Once you are on the beach, it’s beautiful! It’s only for paid visitors ( day and campers) so it’s practically empty. Especially in the winter months. The weather was amazing until our last night when the wind picked up. Everything was covered in sand. Overall, this is a very nice and quiet campground, the only negative is there is only one set of restrooms (with paid shower) for the whole campground. Depending on your site location, it can be quite a walk. Cell service was strong.

We have been going to Davis Camp for years, but only for day visits. We go to photograph migrating birds throughout the year. Now that we have our cargo trailer camper conversion done, we actually wanted to try camping here. We originally planned on staying two nights but ended up staying just one. Reason for leaving early was the fact that as we were relaxing by the water in the evening we had a skunk walk through our camp, then another, then another. You get the picture. Then a raccoon. Normally we would just let them be, but we had our dogs, and every time a skunk appeared our dogs would go crazy and the last thing we needed was a sprayed dog! I truly think it had a lot to do with our campsite. It was located at the end of the dry campsites which allowed for easy passage to the water for the animals. So on that note we will come back in a few months when it’s cooler, pick a different campsite away from animal travel and closer to a water spigot. My only negative feedback for the Park is they need to rake the sites on a regular basis to get rid of old bottle caps, and small trash. Have more water spigots available.I know the wildlife is beyond their control and usually enjoyable.

Positive feedback: trash cans easily accessible at each site.
Shade canopies, with tables.
Sites right on the water ( dry camping)
Regular restrooms and showers on the upper level with portable toilets near campsites for people who don’t want to or can’t walk up the stairs.
Plenty of sites to choose from ( dry )

My tips for camping here:

If you enjoy the quiet, camp here in the winter. Summer brings the party crowd and extreme heat.
IF you don’t need full hookup sites take advantage of the waterfront sites. Beautiful views, birdwatching, resident ducks. It’s also cheaper.

SIde note: Dry sites are first come first serve. There is a 5 dollar fee for each pet up to 2 pets.

We weren’t sure which state campground we wanted to stay at, so we drove to all three before deciding on staying here. We didn’t need full hook ups so we chose a site in the back campground. Sites were clean with water nearby. Bathrooms and showers were immaculate. Kudos to the camp host! There is road/train noise but we still slept great! There were plenty of available sites as it was a Monday. Just a short walk to the water. Temperature was perfect. We would stay here again in a heartbeat

Pros: grounds and sites were well maintained.
Electric and water available
Very quiet at night
Good location
Great view of the road to Idyllwild from our site

Cons: Bathrooms and showers closed ( not mandated to be) just the owners decision
Could never connect to Wi-fi ( owner stated it was due to everyone using it)
Pool was broken, but being filled while we were there ( too cold to swim anyways)
Tent sites closed? There is plenty of room for social distancing, and if the pool is
Normally open, why not the tent sites?
Store very limited in supplies
