Great location right near the National Park. We didn't feel particularly welcome at check-in. We didn’t use the showers, but a neighbor did and said they were, “Not as bad as some I’ve seen.” Laundry was okay. We would have loved to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view and cool breezes, but between the mosquitoes and the gnats, we had to stay inside with the windows closed.

Super-friendly hosts who live on-site, huge, level sites: all the pull-thrus and some back-ins are concrete, most back-ins are gravel, but the gravel appears to be well-laid and tamped down. The concrete sites have full hookups, the gravel ones just water and electric.

This is a very new park (GoogleEarth shows it still under construction), and will be well-shaded in a few years, though it’s a little sparse now. If you make a reservation online, you have to choose a site, but it’s more loose when you get here: trust them and relax. The place filled up on the weekend, but once Sunday night rolled around, we were practically alone again. Walking/biking distance to old Dodge City, Boot Hill, etc.

The $35 was a discount rate for “police, fire, military, EMTs…” And they give a small discount for cash, too.

The campground is well-maintained, grassy areas where there can be, a couple of picnic shelters available, lots of convenient trash cans around besides the big dumpsters at the front. Because the place is new, the restrooms, showers, laundry are all neat and clean; Ben says “they still smell new.” His only complaint with the showers was that the same showerheads appear to be infesting all Kansas campgrounds. Now, Kansas may be in a drought, but take it from some old, drought-savvy Californians: you can make a shower head that saves water AND actually provides satisfying water pressure! To the owners’ credit, it’s probably not their idea (she was complaining about it too), it’s probably some not-well-thought-out municipal plan to “save water.” What it does is give water-saving a bad name, and that’s not right.

Warning: Don't follow your GPS here, and don't follow Google, which will take you to West Park Street -- you want just plain Park Street. There's some nearby construction that's confused our GPS, and our neighbor had the same story. It's a stone's throw from the waterpark in historic downtown Dodge.

This park is, essentially, downtown, so there's some noise, but it's mostly from the waterpark next door; there was a concert in the park bandstand one night; it's all people-having-fun noise, which is nicer than traffic noise. A train or two pass in the night, just a lovely background sound.

Dogs’ perspective: There’s a municipal dog park right next door – one of the gates is actually up against a campsite. It’s a big one, maybe an acre or more, with some shade trees at one end, and one picnic table. The town could cough up for some water bowls, maybe a few chairs for the humans. Also outside the dog park, there’s a big public park, and grassy levees that surround the campground and park, so dogs can get nice and tired. There’s a small zoo in the park, and the weird bird calls at all hours keep dogs guessing.

They advertise satellite internet, but it doesn't work, we were told because the owners don't know how to hook it up. So no, they DO NOT have satellite internet. Luckily, it's close enough to town that we had 5G on AT&T and Verizon, so I could at least work.

This place is populated mostly by permanent, beat up-looking trailers, out back behind the Days Inn. Dirt and gravel sites are super-close together, and not even a gesture toward privacy with trees or bushes. The kicker for us was, the on-site camp host doesn't speak English. At all. We were lucky that the non-resident camp host happened by; the comedy of errors that ensued from their arguing with each other while simultaneously ignoring each other was, at least, amusing.

We needed a place to do laundry and resupply, but I wouldn't stay here again even for that. We didn't check out the washrooms, but if the state of the grounds is any indication, that'd be a strong No. Give it a miss.

We only had one night here, but will definitely be back. It's a very small park, so has a casual, relaxed vibe, and is very quiet. Spaces are level and easy to get into, and it's right on the beach. There's a communal space on the lawn for relaxing and meeting other campers. Owners are responsive and accommodating, a perfect stay.

Gravel sites are small, tight, with no privacy between them. The dog areas are super-tiny, but luckily, there are miles of trails directly adjacent to the park where you can hike with your pooch. There's even a small fenced dog cemetery nearby for pondering the inevitable.

The office staff are super-friendly, and the laundry and restrooms are clean (if a little old). Well located for visiting the highly-recommended soda fountain in Ely.

Sure, we're over 55. 70 and 61, if you must. But this place is a tight graveyard. They're scared of people driving over 5 mph. Navigation within the park is nearly impossible, even with a map, there are hundreds of spaces. Street signs would help. Old people acting old. Sites are difficult to get into, and super-super-tight. Not recommended, unless you want to be old.

If you're driving along Hwy 82/27 in Louisiana, there aren't many places to stay. This is just a couple of miles from the east shore of the Cameron ferry. It's basically a parking lot with electricity and water, but it is right on the Gulf, and there's plenty of room for the dog to run.

The facilities are pretty basic, there is a restroom with shower which is clean, but old. We had good cell service for our hotspot. The best that can be said for it is that it's one of the few places to stay in the area, and you'll get a very friendly welcome.

You can’t beat the location of this RV resort – on the strip of land that makes up part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. The park is on the bay side, and has its own private beach with comfy lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a beautiful view to enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail. If you get a “premium” site, you step out of your rig practically right into the sand; we were in a “deluxe” site, which backs onto a lovely green lawn. The pool is very clean and well-maintained, as are the grounds in general. The laundry room is available 24/7, and it’s also very clean and well-maintained. Restrooms are individual shower/toilet rooms, and were also in great shape. The office staff is extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful.

The sites are level concrete, surrounded by grass. They’re very close together with little privacy, but everyone we met was super friendly; there were a few snowbirds who stay there for several months at a time, but all the rigs were newer, well-maintained, and there was no junk lying around. Others have mentioned it, but your power and water towers are located, essentially, in your neighbor’s site, while your neighbor on the other side has his in your site. But, since everyone was amiable and easygoing, it was a good excuse to get to know your neighbors.

It’s a short walk to restaurants, bars, and shopping. Great place to ride bikes, too, with good bike lanes and bike racks outside almost every place.

Dog’s perspective: There are two small dog runs, and I mean SMALL, but the open lawn in the center of the park is big enough for a game of fetch, if your human is a good thrower. You are, however, right across the street from miles of open beach, if you get there early or late enough in the day that the lifeguards don’t kick you off. A beach that doesn’t allow dogs??

This is essentially a wide open, grassy park, lots of long-term RVers. Everyone was super-friendly and helpful. Spaces are mostly level, a fair amount of space between, but absolutely no visual privacy. There were few people there, it's early in the season, but if it gets full, it could be a madhouse.

The road is in pretty bad shape; the restrooms are very clean but also very old. Lovely sunsets, though. Our electrical box was mounted upside down, makes for a challenge to hook up our external surge protector.

For $1 per day, you can purchase WiFi--good enough for me to work. It's pretty far from a major town, but that makes it nice and quiet, if you're well-stocked. Phone service (roaming) was fairly good, but not good enough to use my Verizon or AT&T hotspot.

Place is clean, sites are level, people working the grounds ("rangers") are very friendly and have great local restaurant recommendations. People in the office are polite, but I did get the impression they'd rather be doing something other than ... welcoming guests. (Isn't this your job?)

For a quick stop--need to dump, stock up, and refill--it's good. But they charge for WiFi? Luckily my Verizon coverage was just strong enough to hotspot in. AT&T was essentially nonexistent. The list of rules was pretty long. Nothing unreasonable, just LONG. I suppose for a kid-centric park, that might be necessary. But: a wristband? For a couple of grownups that aren't going to play mini-golf?

Dog walking areas were fine; not huge, but okay. Our site was close to the road so fairly noisy, but there are sites in the back that would probably be quieter. We don't really care about road noise, we cared about an easy way out in the morning.

Taken individually, all the categories for rating here are good; but altogether, the lack of free WiFi and an indifferent welcome made us glad we were just in-and-out.
