Beautiful park. There is no Verizon at all at the sites. Minimal AT&T. (I think the service info on here must be outdated.)

Site 132 was perfectly level and easy to back into with great sun exposure for the solar. It was right near a pier with beautiful views. We chose a site with no hookups on the Hoffman loop, although there are electric-only sites too. Most of the sites on Greens loop are on the water. They have kayak and canoe rentals, but that were closed due to the pandemic. There’s an awesome pet beach a short bike ride down the peninsula, and lots of other beach access further down. There were lots of different cool birds around.
We stayed 2 weeks and it was very empty and peaceful during the week. The weekends filled up a bit but the atmosphere was respectful. The rangers keep everything well maintained.
We went in April, but I would guess that it gets quite buggy later in the year, so bring your bug spray.

Awesome state park with miles of low-traffic trails and multiple bird blinds. We saw armadillos, a gray fox, many song birds, and dozens of turkeys. This is a dark sky park, so campers use limited outdoor lighting at night. Great place to stargaze. Verizon was pretty much speech-only and slow 3G. AT&T worked great. Better Verizon in the nearby town of Junction. Propane fill 10 minutes into town (Junction Fuels LLC).
Outside loop sites are better for trailers, inside loops sites better for smaller class Cs and Bs. Many sites (including ours) have big “back yards”. Very quiet.
