Military only (active, retired, dependent...) This was our first time at Onslow and we loved it. The campsites are a little tight, but if you can overlook that, everything else is great. We had site #39 which is the best one in the whole campground (last site in the loop). It is next to the bay and you will have no neighbors camping next to you - just views of water and greenery. Water, electric, sewer and concrete patios with a covered picnic table at all sites. No open fires allowed at this campground per military base regulations, so we did most of our cooking in the RV. Men's / Women's public bathrooms and showers with hot water (great after a sandy day at the beach!), laundry facility, group picnic areas as well as a mini-mart right by the campground office for all the basic last minute necessities. Beach is a walking distance right across the street with lifeguards. We found so many shark teeth here! Kids had a blast identifying them. There are also a lot of events hosted by the military throughout the week that you can sign up for - under the stars movie night, glass painting, kids bingo, bounce-house and popcorn night etc. Just ask for the events schedule at the office. We did not have any issues with mosquitos (stayed in July). The campground staff advised on using surge protector, which we did, but did not detect any issues.

We arrived at 7PM and there was nobody at the office anymore to point us to our campsite. So we found our own way. We had site 28B and had pre-paid $45. The left side of the campground is on large, green, rolling hills (which is where we stayed) but the right side has campsites that are much more together (in "traditional" linear fashion). Not much to do here but it was a nice spot for 1 night to stop during our long drive and let our kids run off their energy. One minus for us was the fact that the campground was farther away from the Interstate than we anticipated - solid 30min detour on small country roads. T-Mobile signal is very spotty - we had to walk around to find areas with somewhat sufficient signal.
