This was a fun stop.
We couldn't find it!!! We drove around the whole neighborhood to see if the directions might have been incorrect. Sadly I missed the opportunity to add a new photo to my giant chicken photo collection.
The directions listed on this site are WAY off. But they did take us to the Rockdale Welcome Center. I went in and asked the friendly attendant for directions to the covered bridge. She pulled out a map, showed me the way and we were off. It is about 20 minutes from the welcome center. There is a path down to the river underneath it for an additional photo op. It is a beautiful bridge, worth the extra miles on our trip.
A very unique stop on our trip from the Carolina's to Louisiana.
This bridge sits along side a municipal park with three playgrounds, an amphitheater and many picnic tables. On the weekends during the warmer months, there is a small train to ride at a very low price. The bridge spans a creek with large stream rocks which were great for photo ops and there is a flower garden path to follow. This was a great stop along our 15 hour car trip. A great opportunity to get out of the car and stretch our legs.
