The campsites are along a nice private forest service road (FSR 55 to be exact). There are various pull-outs right along the road. The road itself is firm but full of pot-holes. Our 36ft RV + Toad was fine, if a bit slow, traversing the road to get to the site. There is a lot of background noise, though it is similar to white noise and it is difficult to distinguish the sound of the river from the sound of traffic passing by on 90. It is a very pleasant background hum (not at all like the passing traffic noises in a rest area or roadside campground) but is quite noticeable. This is not a place to go for true quiet.

We did not camp in the main site at the coordinates on the listing but at a site slightly west (located at 47.391545, -121.524661) with a large drive and a nice circular campsite back in the woods, well off the road itself. The site was easily large enough for even a 40ft RV, although you cannot turn around so I suggest backing in (as we did) to make leaving as simple as possible.

The trails off of the campsite show significant disregard with trash and evidence that folks use the forest as a bathroom. The campsite itself was clean and had a very nice fire ring in the middle, although there were fire restrictions in effect during our visit so we did not have a campfire.

This campground offers peace and quiet, large private sites, electric and water hookups, dump station, easy access to nature hikes and mountain trails and so much more. We stayed right on the (stocked) creek and the kids enjoyed playing in the water, discovering the wildlife and exploring the creek. The road is a single loop which is great for a casual work or short bike ride with the kids.

There are both reservable and first-come first-served sites available. Even on July 4th weekend, there were multiple walk-up sites open.

The mobile signal was excellent with 18Mbps down and 4Mbps up on Verizon. With easy access off of 77, we would absolutely stay here again for a quick overnight or for a week's vacation.

Mohican State Park is a nice gem of a state park. The campground itself is relatively small with just about 150 sites. We stayed in our 37ft class A and you could easily fit a larger rig in many of the sites. Anything truly oversized 50ft plus toad might have trouble backing into sites.

With our booster, I had 3 bars of Verizon LTE (7mbps/1mbps) and 4 bars of Sprint LTE but Sprint data simply did not work at all.

The camper cabins and full-amenity cabins are in great locations, nestled into the woods. The best campsites, in my opinion are along the river. Site 85 while busy during the tube-floating seasons due to the river access immediately adjacent, has its own great private access to the river and is in a nice location near the pool, bath house, playground, etc. Quieter sites would be those further away from the river access (68-74, 100-108, etc). Sites in the low 80's are a nice compromise with ready access to the river but a bit of separation from the public access point.

The camp store is nice sized and conveniently centrally located. The pool is similarly conveniently located. There is a bike lane / bike path along the main route outside the campground providing easy bicycle access to town, canoe liveries and more.

One downside is that the campground can sometimes have a bit of road noise at night. Another is that some sites are pretty close together for a state park - more like what you would expect to find at a private park.

If you're traveling south on 199 from Oregon into California, you'll pass a number of campgrounds along the way. If it is late at night and you're ready for a break from the twists and turns, pull into Panther Flat for a nice, private (if not quiet) wooded campground with a scenic river. The sites are fairly flat and a number of them will accommodate a 40ft RV (albeit, your toad will cost extra and may have to park elsewhere). The standard picnic table and fire ring is provided. Bathrooms are standard flush and showers are available at a cost from $0.50-$3.75 depending on how long you want the water to run. Mobile signal is spotty, however US Cellular (via Google Fi) offered the best service.

Mobile Signal - Standard / Boosted
US Cellular: 3G (0.25Mbps / 1.1Mbps) / 4G LTE (5.1Mbps, 1.2Mbps)
Verizon: Voice Only (weak) / Voice Only (strong)
Sprint: NA
Tmobile: NA
AT&T: NA

Easy access to the beach from loop D. Nice campground with basic amenities. Bathrooms are small but functional. They don't stay clean for long with all the rain, mud and sandand no hand soap provided. Dump station available for a fee. Sites are mostly small but a few sites fit larger RVs. Noisy as Highway 101 passes within just a few yards of many of the sites.

AT&T: 10.8mbps / 0.28mbps (boosted)
