[Internet. There was full 3G signal for Verizon but no service for T-Mobile. Speedtest wouldn’t run. Verizon was usable in that you could download and upload but it took a long time. From my iPhone, I could send photos via iMessage but not SMS.]

We stayed in the massive parking lot side. There is a few full hookup sites that are reservable. The parking lot is first-come-first-served. It serves its purpose as a place to stay near the dunes. Nothing more. The Stovepipe Village is right next to the campground. There’s a general store, a motel and a saloon. The store has some killer Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches and some comfy rocking chairs outside for when you eat your ice cream.

It’s basic and served it’s purpose well. No red flags. 4-stars

[Internet. Verizon via iPhone 12: 29 mbps down and 0.48 mbps up with 38 ms ping. T-Mobile: No signal.]

CAMPGROUND WIFI - 18 mbps down and 18 up with 21 ms ping. There were 5 campsites in use.]

I specifically chose this campground. (1) It was somewhat close to my upcoming vacation spot in Bandon. (2) I had to work a ton and needed internet. (3) The campground has laundry facilities. (4) Has showers.

This campground delivered.

PROS

→ The campground hosts (there’s 2) are super friendly and social. Their dogs are super cute too.
→ The campground is within walking distance of the beach and also a lake. We did a lot of nature watching while sitting at the bench by the lake.
→ The campsites are are all black-top paved. Take the campsite size to heart. If it’s listed for 21 feet then it’s only 21 feet long.
→ The SHOWERS. Each round of shower costs $1.50 for 6 minutes for delightfully hot water and good pressure. The shower rooms are individual rooms outside. There’s two. The one I used has a place to hang your bag, a table to set your wet toiletry bottles on, a chair to put my dry clothes on (or sitting) and a trash can. I cannot emphasize how nice it was to have the trash can in the shower room.
→ The women’s bathroom is clean and also has a space heater running. How wonderfully, comfortable.
→ The laundry room. We used it a lot. There’s a quarter exchange machine for $1 and $5 bills. There’s a small vending machine with basic laundry cleaning items. The washers I think were $2 and the dryer was 25¢for 8 minutes. There’s a table where you can fold your laundry and also work on your laptop like I did. The wifi signal is really good in there. (My speedtest was actually done at my campsite 19.) Bring a cleaning cloth to clean the table as it gets dusty and a wee bit sandy (it’s still a campground). The laundry room also has a space heater.
→ Firewood is for purchase for $5.

CONS

→ The dump station was expensive. We didn’t use it. It’s $10 for campers and $30 for non-campers.
→ For those that care, there’s virtually no privacy at the campsites. It’s a communal sort of campground. Just be aware. We didn’t mind but there was also only 5 campsites in use.

4.5-stars - The dump station is the culprit but if you have a small rig, do like a van I saw. Put a bucket under the grey tank valve, collect the grey water and dump it in the dish water drains that are throughout the campground. 👌

We stayed in the southern campground, right across from the water. We needed a campsite that was inexpensive with good data connection for working. The site was clean. The cleanliness of the women’s bathroom by site 95 was split: the toilet side and sinks were VERY clean but the showers looked like they needed some grout mold control. The bathrooms never smelled like bleach but a cleaner I haven’t smelled before. So it’s possible the cleaner wasn’t a mold fighter. Also, the lake waterline/beaches were lined with small bits of trash so that kind of took away some of the magic of the park.

On the recreational side of things, there are hiking trails between the two campgrounds with TONS of geocaching! I wish I had more time to explore and find them all.

The campground is well situated in the Colorado river not too far from Moab. The sites are level. There’s 3 pit toilets. There’s a paved trail that runs by the campground. There’s no water, power or dump but m would you really expect there to be? The campground is Moab BLM which means it’s run and maintained by the city of Moab. It’s impeccable.

In terms of cell signal, I have Verizon and we eeked a signal with our booster. Don’t expect much even with 2 bars. T-Mobile didn’t work at all.

We stayed here one night while we explored the east side of the park. It’s clean and has the necessities. It has water fill and dump station. Our site had a pavilion. The campground has toilets but not showers. No power. There’s a nature trail that goes from the campground to the Rio Grande. Very pretty. If you need internet, the village store nearby has great wifi. There is no cell signal at the campground (T-Mobile and Verizon). The village store also has paid showers that are open 23 hours a day. They close at 9am for cleaning.

Just like the other campgrounds in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Oregon Inlet is such great campground. The bathrooms and campground are clean. And so are the showers! Recreation.gov states that this campground has “heated showers.” I checked the water temperature in the shower by B28 and the water sure as heck is...lukewarm. I’ll take it! The outside temperature is mid-60s in the mornings
right now (April) so the lukewarm water isn’t a shock to the system! We didn’t have to shower in the van at this campground! Also a change to this campground from the others is the availability of water and power hookups at certain sites. Ours was not one of them. Although to dump you still need to go to the dump station across the street from the campground. The official map actually tells you where to find it this time. The beach is near the campground on the other side of the dune but it’s a longer walk than you might think. Also beware of sand spurs. They aren’t as bad as they were at Frisco but still present.

5-star location. 3-star cleanliness. 2-star camper types.

[Internet. Verizon via iPhone 12: 1 mbps down and 0.2 mbps up with 794 ms ping. T-Mobile via Nighthawk MR-1100 - 22 mbps down and 0.74 up with 99 ping.]

Camping in area 3 is for families and party types. The campground is next to the lake. There’s grass for playing around. Water to fish in. However, the sites are very close to each other. There’s zero privacy. Because of how the loop is laid out, several groups of people walked through my campsite because going around wasn’t so obvious, apparently. The bathroom is kinda gross. In case it’s not clear, the dumpster is near the bathhouse between the two loops. Expect to wait at the dump station if the campground is packed because mostly RVers stay here. The campsites are decent but we found so much trash, which says something about who stays here, too. (A screwdriver, tent stake, rope, lots of water bottle caps...I literally walked around and looking for trash.)

For the price and location, it’s a decent campground. Just don’t expect much.

If you are looking for a quiet and serene camping experience in the winter, this is your campground. Ridgeway State Park has one loop open during the winter in Dakota Terraces. They have winter rates. And they have great cell signal if you have Verizon and supposedly AT&T. (There’s a cell tower in one of the park’s campgrounds.)

[Internet. Verizon via iPhone 12: 14 mbps down and 4 mbps up with 51 ms ping.]

Read all the campground details straight from the park’s website before winter camping. Keep in mind the guest services building is closed for the winter. That means no laundry or showers. The restroom building is open. The dump station is open but the water fill is shut off. You can, however, fill you tanks up using the water spigots throughout the campground. We use a 5-gallon jerry can to transport the water. We’ve been here through a winter storm and they haven’t frozen yet. They also plow the roads.

The visitor center is open which you should check out! There’s an overlook there. This time of year part of the reservoir is frozen. You can get loaner snow shoes at the visitor center! How awesome! Since it’s snowed almost a foot, we’ve been snowshoeing all over the park and through the trails and closed campgrounds.

There’s like 5 campsites occupied. It’s so quiet. We have our own little winter wonderland.

Internet. The signal here is super great because Springdale is right on the other side of the park entrance. I didn’t do a speed test but I did work and use internet like normal with Verizon.

The campground is clean, the bathrooms are clean. The campground has a water fill and dump station. The Riverwalk Trail runs beside the campground. The South Campground is all dry camping.

It meets all the basic necessities. It is also the best way to experience Zion. We went on a Sunday where they were were running the shuttles on the scenic road weekends only. The next day, Monday, cars would be allowed to drive on the scenic road but only until they reached car capacity. The park ranger told us they reach car capacity at about 7:30am. If you stay at the campground then you can get over to the scenic road before they turn away new cars. Also, during peak season when the shuttles run all the time, you can get in line early so you don’t have to wait 45 minutes to get on the first shuttle like we did at 9am.

Aside from being in close proximity to the scenic road, you can have a quieter experience at the riverside away from the throngs of people that made the park feel like a theme park. The experience of the park was redeemed by staying at the campground.

We only stayed at this KOA because we couldn’t find any available campsites at any other campgrounds in the area. We usually don’t consider KOA because they are generally too expensive for what we need them for but this KOA has water/electric sites for $30. Keep in mind you can’t choose which site number you get. This is a new KOA so they are still transitioning from an RV park and are sprucing up the campground to KOA standards. Do not expect anything glamorous. The improvements appear to be gradual. I feel like the main building would need to be renovated to truly makes themselves a proper KOA.

But as for the campground itself, the campsites are close together. The chalky gravel campsites and roads are raked everyday. They do roadside trash pickup throughout the day. I observed them come by twice a day. I think there are 7 individual shower rooms. The restrooms are attached to the main office building (like the showers). I mention that because the map we were given doesn’t indicate where the restrooms are but to be fair the office staff told us where they were. The showers and restrooms are alright. The campers make them gross but I see the staff cleaning everything on schedule around noon everyday. There’s a laundry room which is very clean. The washers are $2 and the dryers are $1 for 40 minutes. There’s a playground. A swimming area on the lake. There’s a trail that goes around the lake. The KOA has well stocked doggy poop bags and trashcans along the trail.

Oh! The camp store has ice cream, general food stuffs, fishing tackle and will accept packages.
