Nice place to stop for the money. Neat parking for bikes that can get loud but felt safe. No fridge or microwave and bed was kinda hard but for the price it was not beatable. Way better than the crappy Motel 6 in Rapid City. We didn’t go to the bar is site but looked nice and fun. Room service cleaned our room everyday. I would stay here again but make sure your room has a fly swatter as you will need that.
Must see pre American Spanish Fort. The National Park Service did a great job with live demonstrations and tons of available information to read and learn. For a Friday is had more visitors than I imagined. Call ahead for Oversized parking location as it is about a half mile away but free. Highly recommended and I was close to skipping but glad I didn’t.
I was not able to visit this site. Check hours of operation as they are closed Tuesday and Wednesday’s.
Free guided tours plus admission is free! All aircraft have a great history or story and the museum is laid out in chronological order mostly. I was surprised with some history I leaned in here. Definitely a must see!
I loved the white beaches as I have never seen white before. Check ahead as half the spots were flooded when we arrived but ours was dry. The spots are spacious but to park on the pad was very very tight. I had the most difficult time I have ever had in the last year. It didn’t help that I arrived after dark. Very friendly place as everyone waves. The fort had free tours so take advantage of that. Be aware that different offices and rangers only do specific parts of the park so gate guard know nothing about camping and etc. I would definitely come again!
This is the largest battle shop I have ever been on and it’s huge. It’s so hard to image 2,500 sailors were on board. They did a great job with the self guided tour and is definitely glad we stopped here.
We usually stay at state or national parks but this stop was fun. Some camping spots are horrible placed as this was built in the 50’s or 60’s but our site was huge and we enjoyed it. Walking distance to a great Estuariem and the beach. Several trails which I only got to experience two. I loved hearing the waves but not feeling any wind as the trees blocked all wind which we were able to keep our canopy out on the RV. The island is small and definitely not a party place which was cute. I would stay here again.
Nice quick stop by next door is the NASA Infinity Center which included in your ticket is a 40 minute bus tour of the NASA engine test facility just miles away. This was awesome to see!
This battlefield represented the battle very well. Great experience seeing the field where over 2,000 British troops fell to our cannons and last great battle of the War. Great stop and do not miss this!
Their is actually 5 parks part of this system and we visited 2. The walk in the swamp on a raised boardwalk was a great experience and the staff are super helpful.
