Not a real cafe but you have to stop, especially if you have kids

Rays by the Bay restaurant located in the hotel was out reason for being there. The restaurant was nice & food was good. Small cocktails. We were not able to see the Manta Rays from the restaurant due to extremely high tide. We would go back to try again. Probably wouldn't go back otherwise. We did not stay at the hotel, however, it is gorgeous. The pool area looked fun & the grounds were spectacular.

We went to this beach on our last day on the island after we checked out of our hotel. Our flight wasn't until later in the night. It was the nicest (safest) beach we had been to since there was actual sand rather than only rock/lava. It was super high tide, so no snorkeling, though we were told that you usually can there. The high waves were fun to swim/play in & the surfers were in heaven. Our 10 year old lived it ! After leaving, we headed back to Kona's Community Pool where were able to shower before they closed for the day. Then we headed to dinner close by & off to the airport. It was a great last day of vacation !

The loud music from the bar next door really sealed the deal with the 3 star rating. Very difficult to sleep every night even with doors closed, the noise of three waves & a sound machine on. The parking situation is so bad !! That alone makes the decision for us to never stay here again. Cars parking your car in, other drivers wanting to start a fight over a parking space & searching for a space each night when we came back after a long day. Very frustrating !! A few of the wait staff at the bar/ restaurant were rude so we only ate there once. The food was nothing spectacular. Though the housekeeping staff was as friendly as can be. With that being said, the room itself was nice enough & the lagoon was fantastic. We also enjoyed the luau they have on site.

This was a great stop & worth the drive over. My 4th grade daughter had a National Park pass, so we saved the $25 to get in (all 4th graders get this pass for 1 full year @ everykidinapark.org). We still would have paid it & it would have been worth it. The best time to go is before 5pm if you want to get in the Visitor Center but really yog want to be at the Jagger Museum at sunset & after until it's dark. Stop at the volcano stream vents on the way to the museum. Be careful, they are hot !! The museum was interesting & it has the best view of the volcano & the glow.

My husband has been a chef for 30 years. When he had their Garlic Furikake Chicken, he said it was in the top 10 foods that he has ever eaten. Great little location with a friendly staff !!
