I guess everyone has to sleep inside once an awhile. Friendly staff, good price and breakfast. Enjoyed my stay.

Nice showers, just got to get tokens from machine. Still really nice showers. Sites are nice and great place to visit the beach (not visible from campground, but just a few feet over the dunes.) $35 for a spot with no electric/water, but it is California $

Great hike from the campground to the top. Easy to follow trail and fun once you get to the rocks. Loose gravel on start for the way down, so take it slow, but not that difficult. Great camp sites with nice sunshade on the sunset sides of the spots. Clean bathrooms, no showers.

Ten spots are held each day for the Lottery held each morning. I entered and was lucky enough to get picked. The permit is good for the following day. There is a free campground a mile from the trailhead, so you can get an early start in the morning.
What an amazing place! There are no markers past a specific place on the trail, so study and bring the map they provide.
Much better pictures when the sun is high and the shadows are gone.
You have to enter the lottery to win, so give it a try, you never know and sooo worth it!!

Had a great time. Hiked and sandboarded down the dunes. Don't just stop and look. Kick off your shoes and walk the dunes or at least one. Nice, strong and hot showers in the campground. Friendly staff.

There in late August. Hiked the Cedar Falls Trail in the morning. All staff I passed at Mather Lodge as I headed to the trailhead, were super friendly.
The falls were almost stopped, but the hike was fun and a nice trail.
Campground was almost empty, so quiet, clean and enjoyable (week day)
Would go again to hike the different trails.

There at the end of August, pretty hot but it was summer. Almost empty, quiet and very pretty. Great place to stay the night, nice showers.
Was able to get atop in the evening for some nice sunset colors on the rocks.

Great view from the overlook loop. Not a long hike or to difficult. But for the day after Black Canyon of the Gunnison, it made me remember my legs still hurt.
Campground was almost empty and it was a holiday weekend. Really nice camp sites, with water and covered tables.

Second have of the entry road is very rough. Was there on holiday weekend but found an empty site. Got there late in the afternoon but the area around the campground was pretty fun to explore and climb around the rocks. So still got some hiking/climbing within my short time there.

Awesome place. Deer in the campgrounds, views of the river below made me stay an extra night. Great hike down, lunch on a river rock and a tiring but really fun hike back up.
The 102 Elk Creek address is actually for the Elk Creek campground. Camp host directed me to Black Canyon which is 41 miles west to CO Highway 347.
Best place of the trip!
