This was the highlight of our road trip! Neither of us had ever seen alpacas before. The farmer, David, took the time to go into the field with us and pet them for as long as we wanted. He answered all of our questions, as well. The alpacas were extremely friendly and sweet. It was free, but I highly recommend getting something to bring home from their shop--his wife makes handmade items from their alpacas and even labels which one it came from (Cocoa the alpaca was our favorite). Better than any petting zoo or farm tour you've ever been to--you'll meet a nice farmer who just wants people to enjoy his alpacas as much as he does! Even if you're not an alpaca fanatic, it's definitely a worthwhile stop for people of any age.
