awesome stop, I planned on just seeing the falls and eating quick lunch but both my daughter and my dogs enjoyed this spot for a few hours you can play in the water do plan on getting wet its more fun that way. the falls is gorgeous but also plan on it being busy. there were so many people in this small little hollar all trying to get photos of the falls. crowds aren't my thing so that was a negative for me but still totally worth stopping to see.
its nice, clean and well cared for area. I wish we had been able to do more hiking there, i guess we will have to go back.
I love this FREE site. its basic but had hands down the cleanest hole in the ground restroom probably thanks to the river power making sure the waste doesn't stagnate so as far as camp latrines go its great which can make a simple campsite like this a treasure. if you are planning on spending all your time at the lake and just need a place to heat up dinner and sleep this is a great choice.
it was fine, not the main attraction for the area but nice. the campground was really great with a nice attendant and decent price. the lake itself made for a nice walk.
AMAZING. We went on a rainy day but it wasn't too cold and we had spare clothes so we went hiking in the rain. since we were the only ones brave enough to go in the sprinkles we basically had the whole mountain to ourselves and it was awesome. the trail is gorgeous by itself and the view is amazing. dog friendly and there's lots to explore off trail as well as long as you are careful.
I called ahead and asked if dogs could come on tour and was told yes then showed up and was told you have to be able to carry them...so my GSD mix left us unable to go on the tour at all. we purchased a bucket and "mined" some gems which was fun enough. I'm glad I hadn't came just for this one place or I'd have been pissed
it was okay, the view was amazing but the sites were not great. it suited our needs for just a place to lay our heads but I won't go back if I plan to spend any amount of time at the camp site...for the money and a place to make a fire and sleep it was just okay.
Absolutely Lovely and dog friendly. for avid hikers I recommend finding one of the trails down below the falls instead (or in addition to) the public access. its a trek for sure not for anyone that isn't used to difficult hiking but we went down to the river and climbed back up towards the falls and it was gorgeous
I did a lot of research to avoid crowded beaches and this turned out pretty great, we had terrible timing because the wind was super high when we got there which did make it less swimable with the waves for my then 5yo daughter. the wind stopped right as we were leaving i wish we could have experienced it without the waves but we had a blast on the nice clean beach and not too crowded for comfort and it was very pretty.
it was really nice, no complaints
