The walk from the parking lot to the falls and gorge is very short and paved. Tons of picnic and camp sites. You can drive through the enclosed buffalo range but not on Wednesdays. The park falls on both sides of 68. There’s a historic cemetery. The mill is technically only accessible by vehicle and hiking through the buffalo range.

Long beaches along the St. Croix. Along the beaches is sandy, but the swimming beaches tend to be a little rocky. Home to the afton alps. Tons of hiking trails and places to camp.

There were two popular swimming holes-too deep for kids. One of them gets to 116 ft deep. Another is 45 ft deep. Bring life jackets/floaties. One of the swimming spots has a very small sandy beach. Swimming and bluff jumping spots get busy quickly. Majority of trails are wide and paved or mowed. Some spots were marked for divers or rock climbing with the appropriate training and permits. You can fish here with a trout stamp I believe.

Kid friendly hiking. Most trails are paved. Mt Tom observation deck is a quick hike from the parking lot and has some decent views. Lake Andrew is clear with a large and beautiful beach.

Most trails are narrower, not paved, and with inclines and declines along bluffs. You’re able to see some incredible views without venturing too far onto the trails. Rock quarry trail was worth seeing.
