What a nice park! We were just stopping over for the night but we will definitely be returning to explore this wonderful place. WI-Fi was non-existent so enjoy the solitude. Be careful in the campsite you choose, some are a bit short. The nose of our truck stuck out into the road just a little bit. We have a 26’Foot trailer with a Chevy Truck with A 6 1/2 foot bed, a little to much for our site. But now that we’ve been there we have mark several sites in the camp map for future reference. The bath house was amazing! Shower and bathroom all in one room with a lock on the door and they were air conditioned! Super nice camp staff and little camp store with most anything you need and I’m certain some amazing trails based on the trail maps. Laundry room, beautiful pavilion with Church services on Sunday morning

What an amazing Indiana State Park. We arrived on Thursday evening and we’re informed that the dump stations at the family campground were closed for renovations. However the dump stations at the horseman’s camp were open. We drove there to dump and found newly renovated dump stations that were clean, easy to get to and completely updated. After dumping we drove across the street to the newly updated fresh water filling stations, again nicely renovated and super clean!

The renovations on the dump stations at the family campground are complete and they will reopen on 8/7/23. Every @INDNR property should duplicate what they are doing! 4 water stations at one time and there will be 5 dump stations.

The camp grounds were separated into about 5-6 different sections. With a bathhouse in the middle of each section which were clean and air conditioned. Overall around 250-300 campsites. The sites were all level and large. A fire pit and picnic table at each site.

The park itself was amazing! Big lake with a beach for swimming and a place to rent boats. There are paved bicycle paths. You can rent bikes at the camp store. There are plenty of nature programs to attend geared towards children and adults alike. We volunteered to walk the resident Eastern Box Turtle, Lilly, as part of the Explore Program, we also went to the Potter Cemetery to view some of the oldest gravesites. Totally fascinating.

This is a beautiful property and one that we intend on visiting again.

I love this state park! It is well maintained. The two times we’ve stayed there were in full hookup sites. Easy to back into, level. Well spaced out, lots of room, some site separated by trees or bushes. There are 6 different hiking trails marked from easy to rugged. The most popular is the Rose Island Amusement Park Trail. Be prepared! The hike down to the amusement park is lovely. The hike back up is stroke inducing! It is super steep. Close to Louisville, Ky and Madison, IN
