Quick off the road stop for the night. Beautiful views all around in a quiet environment. No signs against overnite stays and plenty of room for truckers too.

What a wonderful experience of tasting northern Ontario products. The Rheaults have a very interesting “home” distillery, but the product they produce was fantastic. The vodka is smooth and sipping quality!. We also purchased the apple and the cherry liquors, although they had several other liquors and a high quality whiskey for purchase. This would make an excellent Harvest Host location.

Took Polar Bear Express for full day ride to and from Cochran Ontario to Moosonee. This is a 5 hr trip each way. Train was very comfortable with adjustable feet, legs and back. Full breakfast, lunch and dinner in cafeteria line fashion. Eating area in same car. Special was penne pasta with sausage and was very good with generous portion. Saw lots of skinny trees (tree line product) and lakes, but no wildlife this trip. You can take a water taxi to Moose Factory to learn the history of the area and partnership with the Hudson Bay Company. I was hoping to buy First Nation crafts, but a stop at Northern College in Moosonee told me otherwise. Since Covid, First Nation crafts have near disappeared. Tourism needs to return to the area with the help of ONR.

Owners Glenn & Carolyn Waddell are super welcoming and informative about the ‘pacas. Gift shop on site with lots of useful goods: sweaters, mitts, hats, fleece and yarn.

Stopped here during the week. BLM land. 3 other campers here, all with ATVs of a sort. Interesting to watch them climb the dunes. Clear dark sky night. Garbage bins were full, evident that weekends are very busy. Lots of firepits.

We stayed here as Harvest Host guests. Wide open area for walking the hills and listening to the quiet. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed while we were here.

The guest ranch seems to have has better days. The RV area was adequate with full hook ups. No fire rings or picnic tables... pricy at. $35/ night. Laundry is $2/load washer and $1.75 for dryer, 2 units of each. The road in nearly killed our motorhome. It was the worst washboards we’ve ever been on. There was a toad grader in the property, but was told the road is federal land and the ranch doesn’t take care of it.

Accessed through the town of Medora, this is the most popular area of TRNP, but is not the most scenic. It took us 2 hours to drive thru and see various spots. The most fun part is stopping and watching the many prairie dogs go about their lives. You can visit both South and North unit in a long day.

What a beautiful area to visit, especially the many prairie dogs, extraordinary views, wild horses and bison. It’s 52 miles from the South unit, but doable in a day with the South unit. Very short sections of gravel road but OK for big rigs.
