Don't miss Riverside Geyser and Grotto Geyser. Much more impressive than Old Faithful in my opinion. Nice hike from Biscuit Basin to Old Faithful where you can see both of these geysers and more.
Loved taking a group selfie with the pink elephant! Our friends at home made all kinds of jokes! They even have Pink Elephant t-shirts and ball caps for sale in the Shell station.
The Big Pencil is only the tip of this stop! Many historical buildings in Wytheville. Across the street is an old movie theatre, a block east is a beautiful old church and the court house, and a block west of the pencil is an old stone house. We saw many local restaurants in the hie town area that looked worth stopping, but we weren't hungry. Enjoyed this town.
Beautiful place! The petroglyphs are neat to see but some child has outlined them with chalk - a shame it is not better preserved. The nature trail was magnificent! An easy trail for most anyone. A film crew was there filming a short story the day we stopped. They had a smoke machine making smoke down in the gorge which have it an eerie, mysterious effect. Not far off the main road and well worth the stop to stretch your legs. Be aware there is NO restroom there!
Worth a stop. Breaks up the monotonous driving. Many of the towns on I94 seem to have a World's Largest something! Makes for interesting selfie pictures to laugh about later!
